GolfMagic

"Chile's Mito Pereira has already "agreed" to join LIV Golf and he is expected to link up with the Saudi-backed circuit after making his debut at the Presidents Cup, an insider has told GolfMagic.

Pereira, who threw away his chances of winning the US PGA Championship with a double-bogey six on the final hole earlier this season, is lining up in Trevor Immelman's International Presidents Cup team in Charlotte this week.

It is understood from our source with inside information on the LIV Golf Tour that current PGA Tour member Pereira, 27, is a big fan of the team format on Greg Norman's new series, and that he will soon join his good friend Joaquin Niemann on Torque GC.

Captain Niemann, 23, currently has Scott Vincent, David Puig and Jediah Morgan on his Torque GC team, and so one of those three players will likely need to make way for the incoming Pereira."

GolfMagic also reporting that Patrick Cantlay won't rule out leaving the PGA Tour for the LIV Tour as well.

"It’s an ever-evolving calculation, right?" Cantlay told GOLF's Dylan Dethier ahead of the Day One Foursomes.

"Because if 20 of the 24 guys here this week go out and play the other tour, then it makes it way more likely that I’m going to want to go to the other tour.

"So to say that I would never, ever play on that tour — I don’t think that’s truthful."

Pereira wouldn't be much of a loss imo. I'd be surprised if Cantlay left.

I thought it was a given Mito was going once Neimann went. I don’t think anyone at the PGA is extremely concerned over him.

Have you seen the crowds for this thing? No one is there. It’s pretty sad looking. They better be worried about young guys who can compete leaving.

The last two days there were only 5 pairings out on the course. 5 holes. And nearly each hole, there’s space everywhere. It’s certainly not packed.

Are you watching the presidents cup? I watch PGA Tour Live almost every week and I didn't even know who Taylor Pendreth is. Now you have to replace mid 20s Mito too? With who?

Mito isn't that big of a loss in a vaccum, they he has shown he can contend getting a battle field promotion off thr KFT then leading a major, but it's death by 1,000 cuts.

Cantlay would be a huge get for LIV if he goes.

The LIV pumpers will tell you that the president cup is watered down because of guys who went to LIV, but historically their bottom half has always been dog shite. The reality is that the Korn Ferry / PGA tour qualifying process is a lot harder than anything international, and the Americans team is always battle tested and has overall Better talent as a result. I mean frickin billy ho is playing in his first ever team event….so is Kisner who has always been great at match play. The bottom line is that the PGA and feeder tour process has always been the ultimate meritocracy for the world and the US teams have been reaping the benefits. It’s been perplexing to watch the Better US squads in Ryder cups lose on foreign soil as much as they have, but I think that will start to change next year and into the foreseeable future.

The number two player in the world isn't playing because of it, so yeah.

Yeah the absence of Cam is clearly the difference between a total blowout and a lopsided loss. Maybe if henrik stenson and chase koepka were playing this would be competitive…those guys are LIV studs.

I don't think an American and a European are eligible for the international team

Wow what a score!

When are they gonna change the name from “LIV Golf” to “Cameron Smith and a bunch of guys playing practice rounds exclusively on YouTube”

Dide, what?

It’s frickng packed on the course
They had over 40,000 fans go through the gates man. Ylu don’t need to make shite up

This is pretty much what almost all the crowds look like on tv

It is absolutely impossible you have been watching and your thought was “man, those crowds are light. They need to be worried

Thats the picture from the first tee after all the fans had left to go into he course they packed in them dispersed once Bush and Clinton had their intro

Holy frick y’all are disingenuous . Here is moments before

I mean 40,000 fans in attendance, not sure why this is even a talking point even for people who like to lie. We can look up the data so easily

Cantlay is a good player no doubt.

But, he has a permanent frown and the personality to match.

He might be wondering how he might fit in the new PIP Program. He is not the outgoing type.

As far as Mito, no one knew him before this year.

That's the benefit of the Korn Ferry pipeline, there will always be another Mito coming in.
