Nah. Spieth is like 25(ish) in points. I think it's safe to say after what happened with ZJ and Keegan, that Keegan is not going to be making picks off the buddy system.

Scottie
Xander
JJ
Henley
Bryson
English
------------
JT
Morikawa
Griffen
Bradley
------------
Novak
Koepka

Seven new names that weren't on the team that got it's arse kicked last go around. I could be talked into having even more fresh blood like McNealy or Berger over Koepka.

I think you are more likely to see those two on the team than Koepka at this point. He really needed to play well at the Open to have any shot at making the team. He has gone from the 40th ranked golfer on DG at the beginning of the year to 104th.

I think Cantlay has a way better argument than Koepka. Both are not playing their best, but Cantlay is still playing better than Brooks. Also, Cantlay has a better Ryder Cup record.

Honestly, I agree with all of that. Realistically he would need to win probably two LIV tournaments to prove himself. He's 28th in LIV's standings

But Jordan’s like 9th in Data Golf for the US in the last 6 months.

A lot can change in the last few weeks. I’d also see which players are willing to play before the Ryder cup because I don’t want our guys having a 1 month break again.

Fire Keegan and replace with Paul Azinger.

Yea I mean my picks were based on if I were picking right now. If Spieth or someone else goes off in the next six weeks my thoughts could change. I just don't think Spieth is getting in off the buddy system like the previous poster mentioned.

I’d avoid taking Spieth because of his back issues.

As captain, I would base my captain’s picks as follows:
-Use rankings based on last 6 months only.
-Strongly consider performance in Ryder/President’s Cup over the last 6-8 years.

Disclaimer: I’ve done no research on who these parameters would produce, and I’m drinking a Capone at J Alexander’s as I provide my genius commentary.

Not sure if KB picks Morikawa, guy has totally lost his swing.

If KB picks Morikawa then he is basically doing to someone else exactly what was done to him when he got left off the team. He won’t make that mistake IMO.

Have to put Gotterup on the team. Kid is red hot right now and has the swag and confidence this team needs.

The name is so awesome for a big hitter.
I think he’s from NY/NJ so kind of a local as well.

He’s T8 in this weeks PGA tour event.
-10.

What are yalls thoughts on Ben Griffin making the team?

He has had a good year, good numbers. But he has not been an elite level guy in his career and doesnt have the huge pressure experience.

He is striking it well. I think he has two wins this year and some other top 10s.

The best captain in the modern era. Zach Johnson was Hal Sutton level disaster.

If he earns it, he’s going.

I would take a chance on some new guys.

Short hitter Harman at Bethpage. That’s a hard no. Don’t want to see that waggle for 4 days. Morikawa is a tough pick. Been playing like arse lately and burning through caddies.

Won’t happen but outside the box I’d take Gooch over someone like Novak

So looking at the standings going into the playoffs and the way they score it, Bryson will likely be outside the top 6 autoquailifiers. But KB has already stated Bryson will be on the team. That leaves us with 5 picks.

Henley, Spaun, Scottie, and X are probably locked into the top 6. If JT is outside the top 6, he will be a captains pick.

Ben Griffin might play his way into the top 6, but i think he is getting picked even if he doesnt auto-qualify.

Harris English currently is auto-qualified. Gotta think he is in too.

SS
X
JJ Spaun
Henley
Bryson
JT
English
Griffin

Then Bradley, Gotterup, Burns, and one more.

Probably Morikawa, but if it was me picking it would be somebody else.

Let’s see if someone else gets hot in playoffs that’s not top 12.

I’d pick Gotterup. He’s had a hot hand and is a bomber. I think he’s from NJ.

don't see Burns and Gotterup being picked. Unless they do something significant in the playoffs. They are just too far down the rankings.

As much as I'd like Sam to be in there, he hasn't earned it. Hell, Cam Young pretty much just guaranteed he'd be in over Burns if it came down to picking guys in the 16-20 range.
