Depends on what you consider “diluted”.
Will the Masters really have the “top 50 players” competing or are a bunch of top 75-80 guys now being invited because they quit ranking 30+ guys?

You have no proof & yet you just call Bryson a liar because you don’t like what he says. Show me what their handbook says & what LIV hasn’t fulfilled

20% of LIV is in the field of the Masters.
The top 50 of datagolf rankings (which include LIV) has the only exclusions being Hossler, Gooch, Ben An, Bezuidenhout, Hojgaard, and Jaeger.
The field isn't diluted because Gooch isn't there. And he's not getting invited by going out saying this stuff. The guy didn't even bother attempting to qualify for the US Open last year.
While Niemann went out and earned a spot in the Masters, Gooch has played one event outside of LIV in the past year, finishing T-42 at the Hong Kong Open.

I’ve seen them. It’s still slightly in favor of PGA players, but it’s better than OWGR.
Puig, Tringale, CH3, Ortiz, Kokrak, Sergio, Pereira, Reed, Burmester, Oosthuizen should all prob be higher

I saw Rory responded. Nice to see he’s much more level headed about everything now that he’s removed himself from the board.
Pretty much explained that if you read the full interview you could tell the interviewer sort of led Gooch to making that comment about asterisks so he was giving him the benefit of doubt with his answer. Seemed like he basically just agreed with the interviewer. He did go on to explain how Niemann was playing to earn his invite & Gooch wasn’t.

It is pretty strange the change in his tone with LIV things.
quote:
Mellroy has offered countless comments on LIV and the golfers heading there in recent years, ranging from outrage ("I hate what it's doing to the game of golf. I hate it. I really do," he said after winning the FedExCup in August 2022) to eventually striking a more conciliatory tone ("I can't judge people for making that decision," he said in recent months). When Rahm left for LIV in December, McIlroy told Sky Sports that he wants Ryder Cup eligibility rules to be rewritten because "I certainly want Jon on the next Ryder Cup team."
When Mellroy was asked for a response to his former agent Chubby Chandler recently suggesting that he might actually join LIV, the response: "He might know a few things. Who knows?"
Honestly can’t tell if he’s just messing with the reporter or being serious.

This is a quote from Rory’s presser today at the *Honda Classic. We he was asked by a member of the media about the percentages of him joining LIV, he responded that it’s 50/50

That’s what I posted right above. I would think he just messing with the media, but it’s interesting

Definitely trolling. But I think him trolling/joking about it is a much better look than just outright dogging it. He looked like a jackass doing it and it made longtime fans of his (me being one) sour on him with his attitude. Jay hanging him out to dry and having guys that he's legit friends with be over there definitely had a part to play in his change of tune. He's going to stay loyal to the PGA Tour, I just don't think it makes sense for him to be so outspoken against LIV like he was given how he has already been stabbed in the back.

I agree with that. I don’t see any chance Rory goes, but I also think Rory is tired of fighting.
He’s taking the high road on all of this and avoiding the chaos that has followed him.

He’s much more likable this way.
I do think we will eventually see him playing team golf on a global tour, but that will be long after the PGA/PIF deal happens

You think Data Golf is 100% accurate?
You think Koepka & Cam Smith are currently the 43rd & 44th best golfers in the world?

Personally, I can’t wait to see the way they grow the game with the youth, women, and poor people in these countries.

Another good weekend for Puig with a 2nd place finish in Macau. He’s up to #105 in OWGR which puts him ahead of Larrazabal to join Rahm on the Spanish Olympic team.

Cam Smith has done exactly squat since he left for LIV, and it's been almost two years. I have no problem believing he is the 40th or so best player in the world. Players' fortunes ebb and flow, and I am pretty sure even he would tell you that he isn't putting in the work like he did two years ago.
Justin Thomas was 7th in the world when Cam Smith left; Sam Burns was 11th; Billy Horschel was 15th. Wyndham Clark was 216th in the world then. Ludvig Aberg wasn't even ranked and was still in college. Sahith Theegala was 62nd. shite changes quickly in professional golf.
Koepka's more of an outlier because he has had a high variance of outcomes since he left, and he is getting dragged down by the fact that outside the top 10 or so the LIV guys have performed horribly when they have opportunities against PGA players.

3 wins on LIV, 1 win on Euro Tour, & two Top 10’s in 2023 majors…
