Hatton doesn’t make sense to me unless LIV is going to get OWGR points.
He should be in most of the majors for 2024 right?
It makes sense for LIV to go after more top 12 international guys & I could understand Rahm wanting to fill his team with his Ryder cup buddies (not sure if they’re close friends off the course).

Top 3 finishers from LIV Golf promotions earned their spots on LIV 2024 roster.
5 spots remaining, including 3 open spots on Rahm’s new team.
Kalle Samooja (Finland)
- Won Porsche European Open in 2022 for his first DP World Tour victory
Jinichiro Kozuma (Japan)
- Made three starts in the 2022 LIV Golf Invitational Series, finishing 29th in points
Kieran Vincent (Zimbabwe)
- Won the 2023 International Series Vietnam on the Asian Tour and brother of current LIV Golf member Scott Vincent
ETA: I think the Vincent bro’s would fit well on Cam Smith’s Aussie team. Haven’t heard of any other Australian guys jumping from PGA

They all say I want to do something new and grow the game.Hell, I've been wearing shorts and listening to music on the golf course for over 20 years and played team golf in high school, what are they doing that's new?
Well it’s 90% about the money and they are just saying this to make it seem like it’s something else. The other 10% is also about the money.

I think it would be cool if the teams were to sign a reserve of players. Have like a farm system on the asian tour and be able to bring guys up to LIV when they want or send people back down when they struggle.
Hell they could draft kids out of college. Trade draft picks and all that.
I like the idea of team golf but the current format needs major help. Currently when someone is injured they bring up a random reserve who plays on whatever team.

Sounds riveting. These guys are sure to bring the needed eyeballs.

Those 3 just won the lottery & earned their way in too. Life changing. A lot bigger than earning a PGA Tour card

Updates on LIV Roster: Only 2 spots left on original 12 teams, but with 3 open spots left on Rahm’s team that gives at least 5 spots left for 2024.
Seems like Norman already knows who some of those will be:
quote:
Norman said about eight to 12 players are in the running for two or three available spots on the LIV Golf League roster. On Monday, Tony Finau announced on social media that he plans to return to the PGA Tour in 2024. There was speculation that Finau might be considering a move to LIV Golf.
"I'll be honest with you, since Jon signed, I know he's been inundated by players saying, 'I want to play on your team, Jon. How do I get on that?''' Norman said. "And I have been inundated and my other team members, too, my C-suite within the organization. I can tell you, hand on my heart, between eight and 12 guys for about two or three spots and maybe two spots, to be honest with you."

How did those guys "qualify" for LIV?

If you’re asking about the 3 newest players, it’s
They started with a 73 man field. You can read how they all qualified for the event at the bottom of this page

Andy Ogletree has already earned his spot
Andy Ogletree has been signed to Phil’s HyFlyers team. Makes them only the 2nd all American roster on LIV along with the 4Aces.
Found it interesting that he travelled with LIV for every tournament in 2023 as a reserve, but only played in 3 tournaments. Finished higher than 7 other guys in season standings, including 2 captains, due to a 6th place finish in DC.

Looks like they have extended the deadline for the PGA-PIF merger. LINK
Phil says stay patient… maybe we'll still see Rahm, Smith, & others at the Players

quote:
The PGA Tour, DP World Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund have extended their self-imposed deadline on a proposed business agreement to create a new for-profit venture tenatively labeled PGA Tour Enterprises.
The news was delivered to the PGA Tour's membership in a memo sent on Sunday from commissioner Jay Monahan. The surprise "framework agreement" between the tour, DP World Tour and PIF announced on June 6 called for a more formal deal to be completed by Dec. 31, although all sides had the right to push that date back.
Two sources familiar with the discussions told Golf Digest the hope is to finish negotiations by the Players Championship in March, held at the tour’s headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. There’s also an unspoken directive not to allow unresolved discussions to carry into April, sources tell Golf Digest, as the tour does not want to take away focus from the Masters tournament.

It’s been pretty quiet lately about any roster spots on LIV, but I just saw this leak from Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC.
Nothings been announced but seems like they will add newcomer Samooja and have 1 spot left on the team

I had that same reaction when Rory said his “dream scenario” is a world tour, funded by corporate America & Saudi Arabia too
LINK
Apparently this has been his idea for awhile, not Greg Norman’s

quote:
My dream scenario is a world tour, with the proviso that corporate America has to remain a big part of it all. Saudi Arabia, too. That’s just basic economics. But there is an untapped commercial opportunity out there. Investors always want to make a return on their money. Revenues at the PGA Tour right now are about $2.3 billion. So how do we get that number up to four or six? To me, it is by looking outward. They need to think internationally and spread their wings a bit. I’ve been banging that drum for a while.”
“Whether they are rotated on the new global circuit, or we go with the same ones every year, I’m OK with either,” he says. “The Australian Open, for example, should almost be the fifth major. The market down there is huge with potential. They love golf. They love sport. They have been starved of top-level golf. And the courses are so good.
“The South African Open is another I’d have in the mix. Then you have places like Singapore and Hong Kong and Japan. What a market Japan represents. That would be another opportunity. We could end up with something that resembles Formula One, but with a little more of an American presence.

Wow, he's really got some new, creative ideas

Rory has been talking about the world tour idea far before LIV
Rory has always been for more world events. He just thinks LIV is shite, and fans agree
From the year 2020. Rory has always been for more world events, he just wants it done within the framework of existing structure of golf

The concept of a world golf tour has been bandied about for some time, but McIlroy suggested the global pandemic – not to mention the efforts of a rival league – could be the impetus to bring it to fruition. Does McIlroy support the concept of one world tour?
“I’ve sort of been calling for it for a while. Yeah, I would like to see that,” McIlroy said. “I think for the health of both tours, a world tour is something I’ve always wanted, but it had to be done the right way. I think the PGL coming in and trying to do it their way wasn’t the right thing, so trying to make change from within the game already and not letting an outsider come in is the right way to do it, so I’d be supportive of that, for sure.”

I’ve been calling for it for a while.
There, y’all heard it here first. The day someone invents the cure for cancer, everyone saw it here. It was my idea!
