Final roster posted. LIV Golf confirms there will be 54 total players on LIV this year, 13 teams of 4 plus 2 additional wildcards

Additionally, Laurie Canter will play as a Wild Card at the first two tournaments, while Hudson Swafford will be a full-season Wild Card. Announcements on future Wild Card spots will be announced ahead of the events.

Looks like there are 10 spots available after the bottom 4 player’s relegations & 6 others becoming free agents.

LIV Golf has announced that Phase One of the league’s offseason is complete and that Phase Two – Free Agency – has begun. In addition to the Top 24 (Lock Zone) players who opted to become free agents, players who finished 25th to 44th (Open Zone) whose contracts have expired are officially free agents. These players may be re-signed by their previous team or can negotiate a contract with another team that has an open roster spot.

Free agency will conclude when four league roster spots remain. These open spots are reserved for the winner of The International Series 2023 Rankings – claimed by Andy Ogletree this past weekend in Hong Kong – and the top three finishers from LIV Golf Promotions, which will be staged December 8-10 at the iconic Abu Dhabi Golf Club in United Arab Emirates. Following the qualifying tournament, the league will host the LIV Golf Draft through which these players will be drafted onto the remaining teams that have an open spot on their roster.

1/31/24 Update: Rahm officially confirmed his team name & roster yesterday.

LIV confirms signings for Herbert & Meronk.
LIV just released the final roster.
Kozuma takes the 4th spot on Ironheads.
Herbert takes final spot on Ripper GC.
Meronk takes final spot on Cleeks.

In summary, they filled 14 openings this offseason. They resigned 5 players from last year, 4 new players qualified, signed 4 players from PGA/DP Tour & 1 US Amateur.

1/15/24 Update: Roster spots have been filling up, only 3 spots remaining and 1 of those is reserved for Jinirchiro Kozuma.
Aussie Matt Jones has re-signed with Ripper GC. Andy Ogletree was signed to HyFlyers GC.
Rumors/online leaks have revealed that Samooja has joined Cleeks GC & Kieran Vincent will join Rahm’s new team.

1 spot left on Ironheads (Safe to assume Kozuma lands here)
1 spot left on Cam Smith’s Ripper GC
1 spot left on Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC

Waiting to see official announcement on Rahm’s new team roster, which will be called “Legion XIII GC” or Legion 13. Reports that his 3 teammates will be Vincent, Caleb Surratt, & Wyndham Clark(seems like Clark might be out).

12/13 Update: Kalle Samooja, Kieran Vincent, & Jinichiro Kozuma earned 3 spots on the LIV roster by finishing top 3 in the LIV Golf Promotions event. 5 spots remaining to fill the roster, including 3 on Jon Rahm’s new team.

12/7 Update: It finally happened, Jon Rahm has officially joined LIV Golf. That wasn’t the only big news of the day - 2 trades by the RangeGoats finalized their roster for the year. Updates on p5

12/5 Update: David Puig takes the 4th spot on Fireballs GC & Carlos Ortiz goes to Torque GC. Pretty much a trade between the 2 teams. Down to 5 spots left now but potential big news coming soon with Rahm signing & starting his own team.

11/28 Update: Graeme McDowell has signed with Smash GC. That’s 2 very uneventful signings so far. 7 spots left.

11/21: Pat Perez has re-signed with the 4Aces for 2024. Looks like Andy Ogletree has already earned his spot so that would leave 8 spots left.

I believe they were just cut, but probably play on the Asian tour/international series if they don’t finish top 3 in the promotions event

Players finishing 45 and below are relegated out of the league and automatically qualify for LIV Golf Promotions for the chance to earn their spot back next season

if a deal is reached he would join Sergio Garcia and Eugenio Chacarra on the Fireballs, with David Puig taking the 4th spot to make an all Spanish team

Only problem with that is Abraham Ancer from Mexico is still on the fireballs, but that’s just a minor detail.

I hate not being able to watch these guys on one tour. I can’t wait for them to ultimately merge and be done with this stupidity. I just cannot get into LIV in the slightest bit.

I don’t blame anyone in rahm’s position for taking 600 million dollars but sucks for the fans.

I think they are adding two or three new teams this year. A Mexican or Latin American team maybe forming and the current team becomes Spanish.

Rahm probably wants changes that allow LIV golfers to earn world ranking points.

That would make sense, but I don’t think Rahm should have any concern about OWGR points for awhile.

Apparently, Alan Shipnuck has some info that Phil is saying it’s a done deal.

LINK

Annnnd here’s Phil’s response

If they play 4 rounds, would it be enough?

Sign 100 players and have a cut?

What would it take?

He’ll probably take the change in his bank account if the offer is $600 million.

LIV needs to make changes for OWGR points. That’s probably his hold up and a reason this won’t get done.

God forbid he signs.. the people who refuse to watch for “moral” reasons, even though their beloved PGAT made a deal with the Saudis, will have to come to realize this league is becoming more and more legitimate. I would drop the merger and reopen the law suit with OWGR included because it’s clear the PGA cannot contend financially with LIV

I think it’s probably less about OWGR points & more about the team format of the actual tournaments or season long competition. OWGR committee stated that their main issue with awarding points was the exclusivity of their tournaments & it’s mostly the same 48 man field.

Rahm said back in July that he doesn’t like “the format” so if he is making requests it’s most likely has to do something the actual competition.

quote:

"I laugh when people rumor me with LIV Golf," Rahm told a Spanish golf podcast in July. "I've never liked the format. And I always have a good time with Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia in the practice rounds of majors. Phil respects my decision, and I respect his [choice]. Mickelson has told me that I have no reason to go play for LIV, and he has told me that multiple times."

Graeme McDowell has signed with Smash GC.

Finished 42nd in the league last year for Cleeks GC & became a free agent.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that will be happening. Jay fumbled the Saudi bag

I haven't been paying attention to all of it. What happened now that makes it look like the merger won't happen?

Just my opinion. I thought there was a deadline set for the end of the year. I don’t see them getting anything done in the next month, especially with the US Senate getting involved.

Apparently Tiger thinks it will still get done LINK

I’m confident a deal will get done in some way, whether that comes December 31 or it’s pushed back
