For some reason, the US fans at the Ryder Cup have made it their mission to attack McIlroy. It is ridiculous especially considering that we are losing as usual.

It’s been that way for several years. Rory and Lowry also talk a lot of trash back to the crowd. The yelling while he’s over a shot is ridiculous, but if you’re going to yell at the US crowd when you make a big shot/putt, don’t cry when they talk trash to you.

The moment you show it bothers you, it gets worse.

Lowery is basically telling them to bring it, he likes it. Thats the attitude to take.

Yes, but when did golf fans become so trashy? There is a general degradation across all sports so I guess it tracks. If you find yourself yelling at Rory, you must have a pretty pathetic life.

There is a difference between being rowdy and loud and fun; and being boorish, crude and obnoxious. People up there don't know the difference.

I was at the Ryder in Wales. Euros were crazy excited fans, but not a-holes.

Have you seen this board? It’s a microcosm of America. And for whatever Rory is in people’s heads so damn much I don’t get it

We spent so much damn time this week just yelling crazy shite ar Rory instead of actually trying to cheer for our own guys

It ain’t just “up there”. Look at the behavior at the WM Phoenix Open. It’s
Gone from a “good time” to a bunch of sophomoric troglodytes trying to outdo each other on the drunk a-hole scale. And it’s not limited to golf. It’s in every sport. There is no sense of decorum, civility, or etiquette anymore. Just low rent trashy fricks ruining anything and everything for people with some semblance of class.

When I heard the Ryder Cup was going to be at Bethpage Black, I knew the fans would be an issue. I’m actually surprised that they weren’t worse.

Has alcohol always been the central focus of all sporting events?

I’m fine with people having a beer or two, but getting sloppy drunk as an adult seems pathetic at an expensive sporting event like the Ryder Cup.

Even at the Masters I’ve seen plenty of drunks. A guy was passed out at the 16th tee one year. He probably had spent a fortune for his bucket list trip to Augusta and got as many $3 beers as he could drink, then passed out. They don’t hesitate to remove obnoxious “patrons.”

This seems to be the culprit. There's a line where drinks to lighten up and enjoy the day becomes drinks that try to get yourself attention any way possible.

For whatever reason? The dude has been a total arse/choad his entire career. Do you think posters here just pick a Euro at random? Ever see Fleetwood called names here?

The media and everyone else has been egging this on for 2 years. They've basically tried to turn the Ryder Cup into the Waste Management, and they've succeeded.
