It's all about feeling relaxed. Lag putts are about tempo and feel. Almost like you have the ball in your hand and you are rolling the ball to the hole. Short putts are all about eliminating tension. Pick a spot 2 inches in front of your ball to roll the putt over on your start line. Sing a song in your head. Let it rip. shite ain't that serious.

In terms of a drill. Forget putting at a hole. Put a tee in the ground and put at the tee. If you can hit a tee from 4 feet, you are going to hit a lot of holes from 4 feet.

What do you mean? Are you bad at judging distance, can't putt straight, can't read the green...

Work on distance control (ladder drill - 5, 10, 20ft, etc) and just putting straight (gate drill is the easiest way IMO). Making good contact and being confident in the contact is the foundation of putting. Don't decelerate (this is a rule across golf that I see lots of players break often) even though you may think you're going to hit it too hard. Your backswing and pace should be trusted regardless of the shot.

What would you say is your biggest issue with putting? I am the best putter in my group of friends and that includes scratch hcps.

Based on your response I will tell you what I would do in what order.

Buy an Eyeline Putting Mirror, you can find cheaper knockoffs too..
Basically helps you make sure your eyes, shoulders and body is correctly aligned. I also use a Perfect Practice Putting Mat. You will start to figure out why you are pushing or pulling your putts. You can also practice on an actual putting green by finding a straight putt, get about 10 feet of string, tie both ends to a stake or long tee and make sure your putts are rolling directly underneath the elevated string line.

What kind of putter do you use? I recently switched from a ping blade to an odyssey mallet and it’s like night and day.

Keep your eye on the ball. Close, short stance.

Less wrists, more left hand than right, pick a line and then just focus on hitting the ball on the center of the putter face. Green reading is a part of putting but not all of it.

Get yourself a putting tutor to make sure you're consistently hitting the ball on the center of the club face and starting it on line.

Once you can do that and start to understand how hard it needs to be hit and pace of putts, reading a green becomes substantially easier.

The single best thing that I did to help my putting is reverse my grip. If your grip is left over right, reverse it to right over left. Made the biggest difference in my putting...

Metal yardstick.

One ball at each end.

Roll it down the rail.

Straight back. Straight toward. Feel the distance. There is no wrong setup whatever allows you to pendulum swing ur arms . Mallet much more forgiving
