I’ve hit the stick

Worst round I have ever played in my life was on a buddy's bachelor party. Someone in the group decided to book a 7 oclock tee time at a Kiva Dunes when we were staying at the Phoenix next to Floribama. 45 minute trip to the course, no practice swings, drunk/hungover until the back 9, and drunk again by the end. Easily looking at triple digit scorecard by par 3 17. I hit a perfect shot right at the pin (finally found the clubface). The ball hits the pin about halfway up and shoots into the water.

I put my clubs up. Didn't finish the round.

The closest I ever came to a hole in one was on 15 at Webble Beach. The ball seemed to disappear. When I got to the green, I realized it hit about an inch from the hole and stuck on the high side against the divot.

I've hit one, total luck. Bladed the ball. And I'm terrible.

Same here. #13 at Abita Springs CC about 10 years ago. If it didn't hit the flag and drop in, it was going over the green.

2.6 handicap here and have never had an ace or witnessed one. I have made one albatross and witnessed another. I think a lot of higher handicap golfers make more hole in ones than the better players due to lower trajectory shots that have a lot more rollout.

My 78 year old father gets visibly pissed every time we play a hole at my home course. Par 3 about 150 yards from the men's tees. He gets pissed and complains every time because he was golfing up here with friends and one of the ladies got a hole in one on that hole, ladies tees, about 80 yards, maybe, with her driver.

Something wrong that she has a hole in one and my dad, who has golfed his whole life, does not.

Never had a ace before. Been playing 25 years and came really close once but it would have not counted anyway because I was by myself. Was witness to two aces but on both of them, we really didn't see it go in. The last place we looked was in the hole.

We all play so many more 4s than 5s. Bound to be a statistical thing. Plus, lots of courses have really short 4s. I've been over the green at Links 5 3 times. On it...not sure, but many. My favorite one though was Links 2. Pin behind the drop where I can't see the bottom. Pinched a 58. Knew I had spun it. Guy already at the green said it hit a few feet in front, then backed in. Wish I could have seen it.

I've seen four aces - one from a former college player, one from a 20ish, and two back-to-back from some 50+ seniors I was playing with. Was surreal going up to see two balls in the cup.

Ironically,. 4 of the hole outs were on Par 5s (2 of them being over 175 yards). 5 were over 100 yards. I can’t really complain too much about not having a hole in one, because I generally hit my worst iron shots on Par 3s. Closest I ever came was 1.5 ft at Shreveport CC and I hit the pin at Riverdale in Donaldsonville.

Anyone lucked into one?

I haven’t but I played with a buddy who couldn’t break 120 on a good day skull frick a shot that ended up in the hole. So yeah, bad golfers can certainly accomplish that feat

I have a mid single digit handicap and never had a hole in one. I've witnessed 4 in 5 in my groups and everyone of them couldn't break 85

One of mine was a par-4. Years ago. Number 14 at LSU...the hole where you tee off over the canal and it's a dogleg left. I knocked the shite out of my drive and cut the dogleg. Ball must have hit the cart path and accelerated or something because it ended up about 10 yards short of the green and to the left of center. And to my good fortue, the pin was front left, so my ball wasn't more than about 50 feet from the hole. It left an easy chip, which I put in. I was more shocked I didn't skull the chip

I've seen some very or below average golfers get a hole in one. A good friend of mine who is 2-4 handicap and plays around 200 rounds a year has never had one. A normal course has four par 3s, so 800 chances a year he has never done it. Meanwhile I'm the definition of an average golfer and I've had two. One was a legit great shot that went in and one was a bad shot that took a crazy bounce and tracked into the hole.

My only hole in one came at age 16. Beautiful 5 wood, 215 yrs uphill. Nailed it, with a bit of a draw. Bounced once and rolled 10 ft into the cup.

Never had a hole in one, plenty of eagles though. Most par 5's around here are in the 500-525 range, even from the tips. Those usually leave me with a 5 or 6 iron in at most.

To the hole in one question though, I've seen a few and never one from a 5 or better handicap. Of the ones I've seen, most are crappy shots that get a lucky bounce and roll in. Doesn't matter though, a 1 goes on the card. Closest to a hole in one I've had was at a parent/child on a par 3 course, which technically wouldn't have counted. First hole, everyone standing around, 135 yard shot with a dead armed PW. Ball slam dunks and the cup spits it back out, 15 yards off to the left of the green.

13 a u club was my closest.

rainy summer afternoon. Ball flight took dead aim on the flag, plugged the ball in wet green about a foot or so in front. Any dry day and i probably get enough roll to scare the hole

walking up i couldn't see the ball it was so buried in the mud

Albatross is more impressive. I’ve got 2, and 9 HIO.

Condor is the ultimate, but I’ve never ever heard of one from anyone I’ve ever played with, and I probably have 4k rounds played

I witnessed one playing with a guy at the old Audubon layout years ago. 10th but the hole was cut close to a bunker in front that sloped where you could not see the bottom of the pin. My name was listed in the paper as a witness. I could not believe how many people came up to me and asked me about it.
