can an average golfer really get a hole in one

What's the greatest accomplishment in golf - an eagle - a hole in one - I know an albatross is nearly impossible - but I keep hearing that any schmuck can get a hole in one. The only people I've ever known in my life to get a HI1 were really accomplished golfers. Anyone lucked into one?

I've never got a hole in one but I've gotten one in a hole plenty.

Those aren't the greatest accomplishments in golf. Shooting the lowest round or winning a major are accomplishments. A hole in one, while an accomplishment, has a bit more to do with luck.
Closest I've come to a hole in one was with a putter. And yes, an average golfer can get a hole in one.

So would shooting par be a better than a hole in one?
I once went 3 birdies in a row
then an 8 on a par 4 - then I hit a hole in one. Then I hit a house. I'm confused as to whether I'm a good golfer or a horrible golfer.

A hole in one is really only one lucky shot so yes, any schmuck could conceivably do it.
Albatross would be a much rarer feat and would likely be a 200+ yard shot so that would be more impressive honestly but any golfer wants to have an ace at some point in their life

I hit a hole in one once (not some joke put putt thing, a real legit golf course) and the scorecard is signed by witnesses and framed in my office.

I’ve never gotten a hole in one, but I have hit a guy. And that’s way more satisfying. You’re supposed to yell, “Fore!”, but I was too busy mumbling, “man, there ain’t no way that’s gonna hit him.”

Yes. There's a reason the toughest holes in golf, by handicap, are never par 3's. Anyone can get lucky and hit 1 good shot.
I made my first one a few months ago and I'm a 3 handicap. I know a guy who's at least a 20 and he says he has 6. I've watched him make 2, and neither were a "good" shot. He skulled them both from less than 150 yards and they rolled 30+ yards in. One of them landed about halfway and rolled 70+ yards and in. Crazy shite. I've also seen a guy make one on a 200 yard par 3 and the ball never got more than 5 feet off the ground.
I've never seen a double eagle (albatross).

I feel it would be more fun to be the guy with the 20 handicap in this relationship

Depends on how you look at it I guess. I’m not taking anything away from the guy. Just giving personal experience on how anyone can make a hole in one.

A legit Hi1 from the back tees? I find that hard to believe. Any course you can run a ball up on the green and make it in the hole isn't a legit course - where the frick are you people playing - sounds like putt-putt.
There should be a bunker in front of any par 3 to keep the hacks from pulling that shite.
I'm talking a REAL golf course - not some goat ranch.
My nephew that has a college golf scholarship and can hit a 6 iron 220 yards has never had an eagle much less a hole in one - and he's prob played 2000 rounds of golf.
The question is - can an avg golfer make a legit HI1 - I've never known one that did - all this bs about people running shots up on the green are bull shite - that's putt putt bs
I'm talking a real HI1 - back that ball up - over a bunker - not some stupid rolling a ball up over a shite field

I've never hit a guy but I've witnessed a lot of houses getting nailed - we always wait for the sounds of broken glass - then a lot of times get to meet the homeowners
