I played in a Ryder cup style format this past weekend and my opponent in singles topped his drive on 18 after I birdied 17 to square it up. I won 1 up.

A few years ago I missed a 3 footer on 18 to lose a match. I could t get my hands to stop shaking.

One time when I was standing on 18 and 1 under par, I drop/kicked my driver and it only went about 175. Bogeyed for even par 72...and I don’t break par much...like once a decade.

Ive told this story on here before. When I was trying to break 80 for the first time, I blew a few chances, but none worse than this:

Playing Atchafalaya, I shot a 38 on the front. I parred 10,11,12,13,14 &15. I was laying 2 just left of the wrap around bunker, hole high on 16 (a par 5). I skulled my pitch over the green into the bunker on the opposite side of the green and into a crappy lie amongst some bamboo shoots growing up from the sand. I had a clean look at the back of the ball and the hole was no more than 30 ft though, so instead of taking an unplayable, I tried to hit it out of there and failed. I kept taking swipes and the lie just kept getting worse. I finally got it out and putted in for a 10 on the hole and finished par-bogey for a smooth 80. I still have nightmares about that day.

I was 3 back of making the national club pro with 9 holes left at +9 thru 2 and a half rounds. +6 made it. I shot 52 on that 9.

I've never broken par before and I was -5 through 15 holes and managed to play the last 3 holes at +5 to shoot even par

Played a weekend match with some buddies. Won a few matches lost a few over the weekend. Par 4 finishing hole- up by 2. Played it safe using 3 wood off the tee giving me about 100 yards to the island green. Grabbed a approach wedge, full swing, chunked damn thing into the water. My buddy had a poor lie after a wayward tee shot, so I still got this.
But, it’s in my head - chunk the second one in the water.
End up loosing the hole by 1.

Not really a choke, but I follow up a 35 on the front at copper mill. Doubled numbers 10, 11. And the back was done. Shot 46 on back.

Ive done this so many times with a wedge that I have mastered the 100 punch shot with a PW or 9i. Just advance the SOB!

I was an 18Hdcp at the time, and was playing in the new member sponsor tournament.

was 12 over through 17. 100 yards approach on a par 5 to two putt for par. Hit it fat. Duffed the chip. End up double bogey. Still shot an 86, missed the net winner by 1 stroke.

I'm embarrassed to say this but I left a 6 inch putt short by three inches one day on 18. I had to buy lunch for the group because of it.

Skins game with side bets. I missed a three foot putt for $700. On the next hole a guy stuck an approach within four feet from about 190 yards and took the skins with his putt.

Many years ago when I was in the Air Force stationed in Japan I was playing a Sunday AM with our normal group. I had consumed a bit too much Saturday night and wasn't running at 100%. Some how I managed to shoot E on the front 9 and when I began to fell better I realized I was -1 thru 15. I bogied the last three holes to shoot a 74. Oh, what it could have been.

Made:
Tournament from tips - 36 / 50

Club championship - 38 / 54

4 ball - winning the whole thing - 2 day 4 ball with 5 holes left - partner made a 10 on a par 4 - I made a 9 :-(

Witnessed

Club championship - dude went 76 day one - musta partied that night - 96 on day 2. It was brutal.

Flip side

Saw a talented golfer struggling - he was plus 8 or so after 9. Playing partners wagered big against him - he played the back in 5 under and netted $6,500 that day including his front side losses.

I was 14, playing in the old Jaycee at Webb, and asked if I could play in the 15-17 age group. Shot 73 to lead the tournament, followed up with a smooth 90 the next day

Your section has a 54 hole qualifier? I didn't know anyone could get off work that long lol
