re: Any truth to the rumors of a LIV event in New Orleans?

They said during the CBS broadcast that Zurich is about to do a long-term extension on their sponsorship, and that there was record attendance this week. They also had 5 of the top 15 golfers, as opposed to this week in Dallas who only have 1.
I think it's a valuable event for Zurich. They can stay as a major sponsor on the PGA Tour, but because of the team format, it will never be one of the rotating big money events, so they will never be on the hook for an increased purse.
As far as LIV and the Super Bowl, I was under the impression that English Turn already had a corporate event booking it that weekend. There is really no other course in the area that is remotely able to host an event of that magnitude.

LIV is planning a tourney superbowl weekend in New Orleans. A course has already turned them down. No other offers were made yet. But they will come.

Rory winning was the best thing to ever happen to the Zurich.
Means he’ll be back and the star power that isn’t already there may follow his lead.
Zurich is set up nicely for the next few years.
Changing the format to attract the big boys was a genius move.

The international pros prefer Carter Plantation

They can reach the greens your group is waiting to try the shot of a lifetime on. Hey old man, you’re 250 out after your 227 drive. You can go ahead and hit your approach…..out of bounds

It was in reference to the notoriously slow pace of play at Carter, not anyone’s golf ability.

Lack of ability is the problem with the pace of play at Carter. Nothing else

They need to bring back those old frickers that were marshals back around 2010.

They really want to do an event around the Super Bowl.
Bribing them with a free weekend in Nashville

The courses toured include Bayou Oaks at City Park and Lakewood Golf Club in Algiers.
Sources also tell WDSU representatives from Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry's office will be in Nashville for the LIV event this week to survey the operation.

around the Super Bowl.
The only way this doesnt flop from an attendance standpoint is to have one of those rare February bluebird days.

Here is my question about all of this.
Obviously, TPC Louisiana is not an option. Supposedly, English Turn has prior commitments which is why they are probably out.
Where else could they go? Every time someone post a question about the condition of a local course on this board, like Lakewood, there are dozens of responses along the lines of "that course is garbage, the greens are trash, the bunkers overgrown, golf in the New Orleans area is crap"
if this all true, then any chance of a LIV event here is dead. Or, the people on this board who respond to course condition questions are full of excrement.

Lakewood isn’t as bad as this board makes it out to be but would require a significant investment from LIV to host. I just think the course plays way too short for the modern game. They would destroy the place.
Bayou oaks is more capable of hosting, but the range is in no shape for a professional golf tournament. Bayou oaks would almost have to demo part of the north course to make it 9 holes and turn the other 9 into a practice area / range.
Honestly I don’t see LIV anywhere but English turn, but we’ll see.

The only option is bayou oaks but man that course would be absolutely stupid for pros. We are talking winning score close to 40 under

No way it LIV goes to bayou oaks. The charity that owns bayou oaks runs the pga event in the city. The tour wont let that happen.

This shite is not that petty in real life. The tour is taking the Saudi money too & the whole PGA/LIV rivalry will look very different by 2025

Ok. Then they should just host it at TPC
