Real sticks know it's a dumb question.

Weird take. Didn’t know that many “sticks” hung out in here.

May get a 5 hybrid.

Depending on how I am swinging that day. Either a 4 or 5 iron (if swinging well).

One of my least favorite distances just based on club selection.

If it's a little warmer out and the ball is flying a little farther it's a 6. Normal it's a choked down 5. Don't hit it as far as I used to.

It's not that difficult Why would a stock yardage question be against or with wind or factoring in where trouble is?

Stock 7 goes 185. Callaway Apex Pro 21, 33 degree. 190 is just adding a little bit of intensity. I can squeeze 205 out of my 7 if I really need to. Face is hot.

You should enter one of the “one club” tournaments.

I don’t have total command of my strike so when I club it is based on what is the modal outcome. With a 7 iron, most of the shots will hit the earth between 130 and 140 yards. Can I catch one that flies 145? Occasionally, but generally it only happens IF there is trouble long.

I was never a big hitter, but my first hole in one 31 years ago was with a 7 iron from 160. My second 4 years ago was with a 7 iron from 142. The latter 7 iron has a longer shaft and less loft than the former.

Within 15 yards of the world record. Impressive.

There's a world record for most things

but yea, Kyle Berkshire holds it at 220. I think Tiger's fartherst was 213.

Did an AI summary tell you that?

Because when I google it, a random Threads post claims he has the Guinness world record for 7 iron, but if you go on their website and search for Kyle Berkshire or 7 iron, nothing of the sort comes up.

Also he definitely doesn't hold the record at 220 (if it's even tracked at all) because I can pull up a video right now of BDC hitting his "7 iron" about 227.

So 190 is swinging harder but you can squeeze 15 more yards out of your 7?

You hit your 7i as far as Rory McIlroy hits his cranked down 7i fwiw.

Had this shot Saturday (189 into a slight breeze) and hit it to 12 feet right of the hole with my 6 iron. Made the eagle putt too.

My current 6 iron (Callaway Elyte) is my 195 club. It says 6 on the bottom, but we all know it's a 5 iron.

I really don't care what the number on the bottom says. I know my yardages with my current clubs, and that's all that matters.

Probably. Also probably a reasonable assumption the long drive champ's 7 iron distances is close to whatever the record would be. Yea, i'm sure under the right conditions it can be hit farther than that (wind, downhill, whatever). Usually talking carry though aren't we?

As far as Bryson, he plays extremely delofted clubs doesn't he?

Was more making a point that I highly doubt said poster is squeezing out 205 when he really gets one.

He's not, especially if going after it more than normal is 190 (so assuming normal is 180-185). You aint pushing 20 extra yards out of your regular 7 unless you're counting toeing it 20 yards past the hole.
