No lost ball penalty if you are confident it is not OB or hazard. Damn pros have spotters…. We don’t

Best part of golf is playing those weird lies, the course is the game.
I always see players fluffing their lies and it drives me crazy.

How so?

Are you people really not bumping your ball out of a divot in the fairway in casual games? Changing that rule doesn’t really affect me. I already do that.
Changing OB to lateral hazard would immediately lower my scores by 2 strokes.

Play OB as a lateral hazard.
Only real answer.. Whenever we play we treat OB like a hazard..
My daughter has been playing tournament golf and they done this for their tournaments .. Definitely helped speed up pace of play

Yet, you are penalized for a perfect tee shot when playing from a fairway divot.
OB - bad shot. Know where to miss.
You still get penalized playing OB as a lateral hazard, plus it helps speed up pace of play which benefits everyone else on the course. I play over 100 rounds a year and might land in 1 divot a year.

We do this all the time. We look for a few minutes and then do a free drop we agree on. I hate golfers that take 10 minutes or more to look for a ball.

Rule change for amateurs would be OB as a lateral hazard.
For Pros I would get wayyyy stricter on TIO relief. Make them hit the shot and if the structure is actually in the way then they get to redo it taking relief. They get so much unfair relief manipulating the rules right now.

ree relief from tee shot landing into a fairway divot (no free relief from rough divot)
I've played a ton of golf for 25 years straight now, and I can't think of a single time this has ever happened to me. Maybe it has, but certainly not more than 3-4 times.
All this would do is give pros another rule to try and take advantage of and slow the game down.
If you're not playing in a tournament and your ball lands in a divot, which odds are, will never happen, just move it back a few inches. Nobody is going to bust your balls over doing this. If you're in a tournament, tough luck, that was just a bad break.

One guy years ago had several fans help move a huge boulder in his line of play.
That stretches credulity to call a rock that weighs hundreds of pounds a “loose impediment.”

You sound like that guy who plays in a group that bumps in the fairway, shoots well, but never puts their score in GHIN because it “doesn’t count.”

Regardless of how little/often it happens, one should not be penalized for hitting a perfect shot b/c of ground maintenance

Ask your playing partner for verification before moving ball. Easy

Any divot. Remember….it doesn’t happen often

So if you can change one rule in golf, you would change the rule that odds are will never at any point effect you? And even if happens to effect your shot once or twice in your lifetime, you could literally move it without it being a big deal at all... because you're not a professional.
Also, just because a ball is in a fairway, it does not make it a perfect shot.

I'm fine with this one. It's the shot link towers, wires, and stands that they abuse that aggravates me the most.
