Mass Effect and it's really not close
It was the first game to ever make me actually care about the story and who lived and died and what happened to the world/galaxy

Batman AA/AC storyline is awesome.
I really like the Skyrim DLC Dragonborn storyline. Just got it for ps3. It's awesome.

Some of my picks were said already like resident evil 1 and 2, kingdom hearts, FF7, FF10, and the god of war seris.. however Im surprised no one said the princ of peria sands of time series. Also, a gamecube game called eternal darkness.

The Witcher 2 was done so well and they integrated the two story lines perfectly.
Deus Ex HR was one of the stories I actually paid attention to.

ME2 might be one of the best games ever made. Amazing story and I felt a real connection to the characters.

In terms of gameplay I think it was better. In terms of just story I think 1 was a lot better.

Gameplay is what makes 2 better, but I agree, the story in the first can't be beat. Still, gameplay mixed with the awesome story in ME2 makes it better overall.
