I'm not a big gamer. I used to be, a long time ago, but with kids and the xbox one shitting the bed, i haven't really played in a couple years. Looking to get a new console, but wondering which is the best.

Series X vs. Series S - Huge price difference, and the big difference really just seems to be the physical cd vs. dowload only, which i don't really have a problem with. Can you upgrade your storage on the S to a 1 TB memory card, or are you locked in with the internal storage?

Or

Is PS5 better than xbox? Honestly, right now i don't see many games that interest me. I was a big COD, NCAA Football, and rockstar games type player when i played. I don't really see any games that are solely for one console or another that interest me other than God of War and even then, i don't really have that much time to invest in hours of play at a time.

suggestions?

PS5 better than the Series S.

the PS5 and Series X are pretty much the same console. sony vs microsoft is gonna be the preference on which you buy.

Big difference in processing power between the X and S. The S seems to be geared toward casual gamers not overly concerned with graphical fidelity.

PS5 is close to the X in performance but will obviously have differing services and games to a certain extent.

If you have friends that play, pick their system.
If not, here is my suggestion: if you are not interested in PS exclusive games and don't have a gaming PC, Series X or S as this gives you access to GamePass. If you do have a gaming PC, get a PS5 as you will have access to everything Sony and Microsoft offers. This is what I do and I'm not a huge gamer but go through phases where I play more often.

How so?

To a not so serious gamer, is it worth the cost difference? Is it just graphics and computing power that won't be very noticeable to the occasional user?

I ask because I haven't had an Xbox or Playstation since the 360 and I've been considering getting one.

It really boils down to how much you want to pay for the console.

The PS5/Series X gives you a significant upgrade in graphical fidelity and potential and the gap between them and the S will only widen with time.

Series S is useless.

I prefer the Series X over PS5. I have both. The X has the better specs and services including integrated cable TV with Charter and others.

performance. the series S is essentially a last gen system in terms of overall specs.

PS5 has actual exclusives. But a Series S + Game Pass is great too.

If you're just a very casual gamer and want to pick up the controller twice a week, the S would be just fine for you. Especially if you aren't really trying to delve into games for hours on end and get very competitive with it.

Are you going to be playing console games with your kids? PS controllers have always been smaller than xbox, so if you are, then they might enjoy the ps5 better.

No. Not even close. The S is a decent buy. The gap will widen in the future, but now it handles everything great. Even MS Flight Sim. No way that runs on anything last gen.

I have a PS5, X, and S. The S holds it’s own.

you're better off getting a Switch than a Series S if you don't care about GamePass.

of course the Series S has slightly better hardware. it should since it's "next gen". but that doesn't make it a better overall console. he should get the Series X or PS5 (digital/disc) for the long haul.

Xbox One X actually beats it in a few performance areas, unlike the PS4 pro

Do you like smooth graphics, or choppy arse shite. That's the difference, and it's massive.

The series S @ 300 seemed high for people who count pixels over pennies.

@ 200 OTOH on Microsoft's store on Instagram...

The S is good for peeps who don't give AF about graphics.

If price/performance, it's bad. 60% of cost while having only a 1/3 of gpu power and only half of storage.

Not a bad deal @200, tho. Or peeps who just want a secondary console.

Gamepass on XBox really was the clincher for me. Its a great service. The Series S is ok if you are just wanting something to get your feet wet into this gen and check out Gamepass but you will want to upgrade sooner than later.

You sound like me.

Get the X Box series S and subscribe to Microsoft Gamepass for "free" games.

I got the Xbox series X. It’s amazing how much memory some of these games take up. I got COD and downloaded some games from my Xbox one and flight simulator and I’m already at 41% full.

The reason I got it, is if I got the series S, then eventually in would buy a 1 TB memory card, and they run $200. So instead I just got the 1 TB system with a hard drive for what I would have ended up spending in future anyway.

Oh, and game pass is pretty awesome.
