my OG white 360 was a pos. got red ring and i did the towel trick to get a few more months out of it
replaced it, then disc drive went out on the replacement. unreal

I got the ring of death 3 times in like 6 months on my 360. The last time it happened I took it apart to fix it, and it only lasted like 3 more months. I tried to send it to MS after that, and they wouldn’t fix it because I voided the agreement. Got a PS3 after that, and will never buy an Xbox again.

I think their sales really took off after the first slim model at $299.00 in 09. Thats when I picked mine up. I find it amazing how much ground XBox gained in one generation ....essentially tying with Sony..only to completely blow it by making the same failures as Sony in the next gen.

One of my courses during business had us read up on the supply chain management for the X360. The optical drive in two out of the three were junk and the thermal paste that was used in all of them was also junk. My first X360 was free from Mt. Dew but I did end up buying a couple more units for my kids.

yeah i remember before the optical drive just died, it wouldn't open on its own. had to take the faceplate off and push a paper clip into the "manual open" hole. so infuriating. then it just died a while later

Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon are my reason for latching onto MSFT. If Sony could release Gran Turismo on time then I probably would have never left.

I think the X360 with the Liteon for the optical drive was the best out of all of them during that HUGE initial run.

In all seriousness. You like what you like and that’s fine. Xbox just really shite the bed with the One. I made the switch to PS4 and haven’t looked back and don’t even want to look back. The quality of games outshines any slight performance or price tag(within range)

Yes, they certainly did shite the bed when they pulled that stunt with used games not working and the "always on" Kinect. I'll end up getting each of the new consoles eventually but they released one Gran Turismo on the PS4.

And they released one GTA on the PS3/PS4 and we probably aren’t getting GTA VI till 2022. Sony can’t force developers to release games.

look how much stronger the One X was over the PS4 Pro this gen. what did it translate to in terms of performance? pretty much nothing. I watch all the DF videos and things are always extremely close

Nah dude, I think if you polled console owners on their reason for choosing one system over the other it would look something like:
#1: It's what my friends use
#2: Best performance
#3: Price/Value
...
#?: To play a particular game
Sure the exclusives are important to a very small niche, but that's it. Bad move on Sony's part if this is the strategy they are banking on.

We'll just have to see when they drop. How I feel about it is like if I was building a PC on a strict budget, I would forgo an NVMe drive for a regular SSD in order to spend more on a GPU/Processor/RAM/etc.
