Exactly, not like I'm pushing 120 FPS. Of course now some guy in this thread is looking for a monitor so I'm tempted to sell him mine and upgrade...

fedex is a bunch of frickups.
Yes they are. Back when I was in the computer business, FedEx managed to damage a $2000 PC I shipped to a customer. I pack those things extremely well (it was the only one that ever got damaged). I also pay for insurance, which is a misnomer because it's not exactly insurance and doesn't fall under any insurance laws. It's "liability coverage" (read the fine print). They flat-out denied the claim due to "poor packaging." Long story short, I got in touch with someone higher up in claims and showed them some very good photographic evidence of my packing job. She asked for receipts of the parts damaged and I obliged, then got my claim check.
I only needed to replace the case and the all-in-one liquid cooler (a little over $250), but I was prepared to sue just out of principle. FedEx is notorious for auto-denying claims.

Oops that was supposed to link to the same monitor for $90 in Amazon Warehouse deals.
Look in the used section below it.

3-4 years is longer than I expected. Sounds like a good deal if I can find a cheap quality monitor. Still gotta do my research and build up the guts to drop about $800 for a system before even getting games, but it's a good start.
Yes, 3-4yrs won't be a problem.
After 2-3 years you will probably need to boost graphics performance. You would be able to purchase your 2nd card.

Don't be afraid to be a pirate for a while. That's the fastest way for a PC to pay for itself.

Check this every day and if there is a really good deal jump on it if you can afford to. Ask us about it first if you have questions. Every PC guy here is very helpful.

Nice budget. You can do a few things with it. You should come out with upper midgrade and lower highgrade build

can I game at 1080 with no lag?
Posted on 6/11/13 at 12:55 am to WestlakeTiger
A $1600 budget is more than enough for flawless gaming at max settings at 1080p.
Go to the PC thread, though, and we will help. Not fair to have TWO PC threads!

for $1600 you can play flawlessly at 1440p!
Posted on 6/11/13 at 1:21 am to bluebarracuda
I have a setup that runs everything I play flawlessly at Ultra settings (including The Witcher 2) and it only cost me $934. You should be able to go nuts with $1600.

My build plays almost all games at 1440p on high/ultra depending on the AA and such.
It costed about $1100 and $1400 including the monitor

Yeah, your budget could easily include said 1440p monitor.
Posted on 6/11/13 at 1:53 am to ILikeLSUToo
My build was actually right at $1600 including my 1440p monitor, mechanical keyboard, and mouse (not my HDD and SSD, though)... A little more expensive than I thought it was.
I want to sell it so I can put the money into my jeep, but that means I'll be stuck with a 6970 and 955 all summer until I build again. My E-Peen would go from 8========> to 8=>
