I played the windrose demo.
It was pretty fun. I’ll probably let it cook since it just started it early access it did spur me to finally try valheim.

My pc wouldnt run it. Sucks cuz it looks awesome. I think if they optimize it a little ill be fine so im just gonna wait. These games normally get better after a year or 2 anyway.

I played some last night. Felt like Tyrone biggums because it's the last addiction I need. Built a small base, advanced some tech, killed a bunch of livestock. Flippin valheim was an addictive time suck and this looks to be a better version.

This. The two things I hate most in games.

This game is still an action fighting game though. Also from the reviews ive read they made all the crafting recipes simple. Rather than having to go cut 5 trees for a foundation its 1 wood = 1 foundation

Played it for about 4 hours after setting up a dedicated server for me and a friend. Pretty fun once you get your boat and crew. There's still some grind to get things moving but not horrible. Some random dungeons and base attacks with some smuggling made for a good time. Now to enjoy the lack of sleep tomorrow.

I'm having a good time with it. Nothing revolutionary, but very competent at survival / crafting, I like the combat well enough, and the ship combat is excellent.

Pirate RPG game is secretly looting your SSD lifespan — new Windrose patch promises smoother sailing and addresses excessive disk writing

quote:

According to footage Pixel Operative shared, disk usage will spike up to 30 MB/s constantly when the player’s character is running around a base. This behavior worsens when piloting a ship. The only times the game won’t constantly write to its host drive are when the character is standing still on land or moving around areas of the map that don’t exhibit high SSD load.

If we do the math, 30 MB/s comes down to around 108GB per hour. A four-hour gaming session would result in 432GB written. The excessive writing will not endanger modern TLC SSDs. However, QLC drives or older, worn-out drives are at higher risk.

I know, but a bunch of people find some weird reassurance in not patching anything.
