Anybody plan on getting Wild Hearts? Ive never really played the monster hunting type games but a streamer I watch has been playing this and it looks super fun. Im generally an RPG guy so this type of thing seems right up my alley. Thoughts?

This has bad reviews on steam but good review on Metacritic. IGN too, but that's all fabricated. Torn on this for sure.

Been watching fightincowboy play it for the past few days and he does make sure to preface that he is playing it on a brand new suped up pc and cant comment on the experience for lower end pcs/consoles. Even on his streams there have been a few little graphic things but overall seems pretty decent. It seems as though Monster Hunter fans are pretty upset over this and dude spends like half the stream arguing with them so im guessing it may be getting review bombed as well. I dont know, might wait until it goes on sale.

I read that it has a lot of performance issues on PC, so maybe after those things get patched up.

So maybe in a couple months after a performance patch? Sounds like they made a pretty solid game, performance is just atrocious at present.

The one thing holding me back from Monster Hunter and Wild Hearts is that there are no monster/creature health bars. That shite just pisses me off

It weirdly is part of the fun, and after a few hunts you start to recognize creature behavior. Plus there are indicators when their health is low.

If you play monster hunter on PC, either world or rise you can go to Nexus mods and install a monster health bar mod in like 30 seconds. It's as easy as opening your game download folder and drag and dropping the mod file into it. That's it.

I had heard there were indicators, but that's interesting that you think it actually is sorta fun not having health bars . I have Monster Hunter: World because it was free with the PS Collection or whatever, so would it be okay to try that one out or is there a different entry that's better for newbies?

Sadly, I'm a console pleb. But I will absolutely give that a shot when I eventually get around to buying a gaming PC

The closest I ever got to enjoying Monster Hunter was playing Rise after I finished Stories 2. I played it for about 10 hours. The biggest turn off by far is still the sheer amount of time spent wacking an enemy to death.

I would kill for a game like Monster Hunter with more fast-paced combat

Sorry for you loss (console plebb).... Anyways I recommend playing world over rise as someone entering the game series. It's a better experience for a new player. The games and genre are very niche and world gives you a more palatable experience. Not to say world is better than rise, just one is a more palatable entry point into the franchise. Also world is much prettier graphically than rise.

It's okay, I'm used to missing out on all the cool mods and shite.

Awesome, I appreciate the info! I'll definitely give it a shot.

No problem. Also, if you are looking to get into PC gaming buying a used system on Facebook marketplace is the best way to go about it. You can find newer used systems selling for 40-60% of their new value any day of the week. In fact I have an entire extra gaming rig I'm getting rid of. PC, monitor, mouse, keyboard, desk and chair.

This was my first Monster Hunter game. It took me a bit to get into it, but I've probably sunk 120 hours into it now. It's an amazing entry point, graphically beautiful, and the difficulty scales up well.
