Truly incredible. This game forces you to think through each battle and utilize all your different weapons and equipment to figure out how to win them. It is very challenging without ever causing you to feel like its unbeatable. When you finally do figure out how to achieve victory, it is absolutely rewarding. Unfortunately it is very much a linear development of a story in game. Because of this, I choose

This is everything you want an open world RPG to be

Honorable mention: Dragon Age Origins

1. Fallout - debatable order
2. Elder Scrolls - Skyrim, then Oblivion
3. GTA when it comes out every 50 years
4. Assassin's Creed

Liked RDR2 as well
Played Kingdom Come Deliverance for a while and got bored with it. Need to finish that game I guess...

I’ve tried to get started with Kingdom Come a few times. Somehow, my only save ended up being moments before someone comes from behind and beheads me, like not enough time to react and prevent it. I’d have to start over with the tutorial again

Single-player?

It’s tough to beat Skyrim (disclaimer: I still haven’t played BotW).

Multi is a tough one, as well. It all depends on what you value.

At the time it was released WoW Vanilla through Wrath was mind-blowing to me. I enjoyed the breadth and depth of the world, the leveling, the end-game. All of it.

As far as aesthetics and immersion: my inner Tolkien-fanboy loved everything about Lotro’s original run. I can’t convey how happy it made me to explore a well-built Shire, Breeland, etc. So much fun.

I’ve never finished Oblivion. I really do like certain aspects of it better then Skyrim though.

Years ago, something similar happened in Call of Duty: World at War. My save was right after a grenade landed near me without enough time to find it and throw it back or run far enough away. I load the save and immediately die

I don't normally care a ton for open world games, because the content can be low quality at times and some of the tasks to do can be quite samey, but Skyrim with mods is pretty awesome.

Its hard to beat RDR2, from snowy mountains to a desert, and everything in between. The Witcher 3 is up there too, it’s so massive.

Skyrim.

I hope BOTW improves on things with BOTW2. The weapons downgrades/loss made it a downer. Also the controllers sucked trying to kill the one boss with arrows while flying. Maybe it was the older system I was on...

I liked the idea of weapon degradation in BOTW but they could have given everything a little bit more durability. I like that it will force you to use weapons you may not normally use but breaking multiple weapons in boss fights or mini boss fights was a bit irritating.
