I still do. I want all the weapons and want to kill all the enemies. I don't like being underpowered and having to sneak around.

jrpgs, cant do it.
Too weird, slow turn based combat bores me unless its strategy or something like Civilization

Though I used to tolerate it, I won't play any game that has required grinding as part of its game design, unless the combat itself is interesting enough to support it. In my experience, this rules out most JRPG's for me.
I also have zero interest in military-based first person shooters.

This is where Ghost Recon Wildlands fricked up, the sang from the heavens "do it your way" and then they force you into stealth.

I recently got a really good gaming laptop and I've been happy to return to PC gaming. But last night, as some nights go, I wasn't in the mood to drag everything out, so I grabbed my PS4 controller on the couch and was instantly in Origins. There's simplicity to console gaming.
Granted, my situation is unique to a laptop as opposed to a desktop already set up at a desk, but I can appreciate both.

Sports and fighting games.
Find them extremely repetitive and boring and they've fundamentally been almost the exact same thing for at least 20 years now.
yet every year millions of people rebuy the same football or soccer game they've bought 10 times before.
Also never been a huge fan of first person shooters. Love 3rd person games, not a big fan of first person ones. The first person games I have enjoyed the most have been mostly single player campaign style ones as well.

Fighting games for me. As a kid I loved Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, as an adult I just can't get into it. Tried with Killer Instinct since it was free on Xbox One, just had no desire to learn any special moves or keep playing. Maybe I have arthritis or something.

Sports games, but especially fifa

I typically have a tough time enjoying 2D platformers and puzzle games. If the game has enough redeeming factors behind it, then I can still enjoy it, but it's hard.
For puzzle games, I just don't really get the point. I've become pretty cynical in addition to being more limited on time. If there's no real sense of progression, I feel like I'm wasting my time.
too weird is a valid, subjective complaint.
The VAST majority of JRPGs aren't slow, turn based games anymore though.

Sports
FPS
Platformers
Walking Simulators
If it doesn't have great characters and/or an interesting narrative, I'm out with few exceptions.

The obsession with narrative and story is such a curious one to me.
A game's story is a vehicle for the gameplay, which ultimately trumps everything. Obviously having a good story enhances the gameplay which is great.
But caring about the story first and foremost sort of defeats the purpose of it being a game.
Besides, even the best video game stories are still rather silly.
The story exists to showcase the gameplay, not the other way around.
Mindlessly mashing buttons to get to the next cut scene is just a DVD that pauses itself a lot.

There are a lot of story heavy games that are fun to play. Naughty Dog and Rockstar excel at this.

I think that's pretty dismissive. I'm sure you could pick apart any fictional story and reduce it to "silly". People gravitate to good story telling because it can navigate the "absurd" and still seem plausible.

This isn't down the board. At all. The Last of Us was purely about the story and is widely considered one the best games in recent memory. Naughty Dog had to build gameplay around it or no one would have kept with it. Horizon was, IMO, one of the best stories last year, and even though I could see how someone could label that gameplay "repetive", it was still fun enough to keep me going.

Disagree. A game with great gameplay that is essentially aimless in direction would keep me playing for 30 minutes tops.
99% of the time when I play games, that aren’t PvP based, it’s to see what happens next to the characters.

There are different types of games man. A video game is another vehicle to tell a story, just as much as a book or movie is.
Not every game is like that and that's cool, but to sweep it all under the bus just comes across as "I don't like a lot of story in my games or I don't want to think in between killing things".

Sports. Battle Royale. Raid style multiplayer.

I just think it loses me in between "story" parts. The interactive part doesn't keep me involved. Take FF7 for instance. Pretty good storyline but all the grinding and traveling in between made me forget what was going on most of the time. I'd rather just watch a movie or read.

I don't DISLIKE story at all.
What I dislike is when it's clear the story is the primary focus of the game and the gameplay is an afterthought or even interfered with by the story.
And for the people who view video games as potentially this new story telling medium, that's fine, but you have to use the actual gameplay to set yourself apart from movies. Most story centric games too often fall into the trap of just imitating movies. Without interesting or engaging gameplay, that's what they just are, weird movies.
