Yeah this won’t be a Wii-U flop but it’s not going to hit switch 1 numbers.
Yeah, the pricing is def. going to matter. Casual gamers already have a Switch, economic times are not great for a lot of people. And if hte kid is still playing and having fun with the Switch gonna put a big dent on the sales numbers, at least initially.
I don't think anybody sane predicts a Wii-U level flop but I'm just not seeing how Switch 2 comes even remotely to the level of success Switch had at this point.
The sticker shock is gonna be there for a lot of people, especially on the games. Every single console that has released that most people thought was overpriced has struggled or flopped. Both Sony and Nintendo should have learned this lesson but they seem to convince themselves the masses will buy their shite at any price.
The odds of me personally getting one are very high, after all I've got every home console Nintendo has ever made except the Wii-U, but it will probably be a few years when they've actually built up a decent library of games and the price has perhaps come down a tad.

Just saw the physical game carts don't contain the game. Nintendo was the last retro compatible holdout, RIP. Sad times.
Real game cards still exist. They are just introducing a new concept for Switch 2, basically a physical "key" to a digital game, so you can use it as physical game but the actual game still needs to be downloaded.
I'd imagine the big first party Nintendo titles will all be the "real" variety.

I just saw the little mobile app they have for the Switch 2 versions of the Zelda game. It's very existence offends me. Using it is like going into the best steak restaurant in the world and someone is ordering it extra well done and covering it in ketchup and a1.
Way to completely fing ruin the entire point of those games.

I think it only ruins the experience if it's your first time playing. All I have left in both games are the Master Sword Trials (BOTW) and Korok Seed cleanup in both.

Just as well that they didn't do the announcement on April 1.

Will there be free shipping for us that do not care to go at midnight/in person?

I may have missed it in this thread but I'm surprised people aren't going crazy about Silksong showing up.

I think we're collectively numb to the prospect of Silksong being a real thing. They said "2025" as its release, but they've said a lot of things, over the years.

Game has been vaporware for a decade. The hype long since gone.
As for Switch 2, still shocked they're going to charge $80 for digital games.

Umm yes?

Anyone else think it's weird that Nintendo is pushing a wheelchair basketball game to show off their joycon mouse capabilities?
And they're currently playing it on Treehouse and it's so bad, even the people playing can't figure it out and they're the ones demoing it

Still trying to get an idea about how this works.
I understand MarioKart... That $80 is really $50 if you buy the bundle.
The "Switch 2" version of games made it sound like they're just updated versions of the Wii games that you could buy for less... but it sounded like they get updated to the Switch 2 version for free if you have Nintendo's online subscription? So maybe that added cost is also a wash?

That thumbnail design means I'll never watch that. That's for someone like SouthEasternKaiju.
