First off: Their wiki/website

Second: A rundown video with pretty much everything you need to know at this point.

This looks like a prettier ESO. The graphics are insanely nice. I would be interesting in checking out the Alpha 1 release but $500 for that early access is ridiculous.

I do not like that you must be part of a guild (even if you are a guild of one) in order to participate in Castle Sieges.

The minimum requirements are interesting...

quote:

Ashes of Creation alpha testing minimum system specification.

Operating System: Windows 10 64-Bit
Processor: Intel Core i3-2125 3.3GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 3.3GHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon 6870 HD with 1GB and DirectX 12
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 35 GB of available space
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Sound Card

The recommended specs aren't too bad, except for the 16G RAM being a little high for a casual gamer. The video card requirements are surprisingly light.

Operating System: Windows 10 64-Bit
Processor: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz / AMD FX-9590 4.7GHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon R9 Fury with 4GB and DirectX 12
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 35 GB of available space
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Sound Card

It's ambitious which is a little troublesome. I think they are doing too many things which they should just add over time via expansion and focus on just making a really great base game but they could prove me wrong.

Asmongold is live-streaming on Twitch, he has over 125k people watching.

If this Alpha does well, this could be a HUGE game just based on this one guy's viewers.

***EDIT***

He just interacted with a property node (house). You can buy, improve and then sell homes to other players here. Flipping houses in an MMO... lol!!!

Guessing 2023 for this?

New World is next on my radar. That should do me for awhile.

He had over 230k during his first ff14 stream last week.

Watching Lirik play it right now, and it was $500 to participate in the Alpha. Oof.

This game is a true challenger to the major MMO's of today. I feel confident that it will be superior to them already because it is being made and going to be run by an MMO gamer and not a corporation.

He won't be pushing bad changes into the game or rushing content to meet a quarterly report goal. He is designing it to be the social experience that MMO's are supposed to be. Not the single player P2W theme parks that modern MMO's have devolved into.

Steven (the guy behind this) has said openly and multiple times: Don't buy Alpha access to play Ashes. If you want to support us and help test the game to make it better, great but don't do it if you just want to play the game.

The 500 bucks is more of a barrier to entry to keep the retards out so you only have people serious about testing the systems in the Alpha. The exception being streamers who will be on with their groups to showcase content.

i'm rooting for this to work, but WoW, even in its depleted state, is a powerful foe to overcome.

Only WoW can kill WoW and it's doing an excellent job at exactly that. The Classic reboot card has already been played and a large chunk of their player base is really just waiting for something better to come along. That's why FF14 has blown up so much recently. New World will probably blow up at first but will die off quickly due to over monetization from Amazon.

Ashes caters to a different crowd than retail WoW does. It will pull the classic players away though.

FFXIV has been the best MMO out for awhile now. It’s the truth. I’m glad this one is a ways off so XIV can have it’s time to shine..however I did watch a bit of this and it certainly is a tricky one. I see potential but I just haven’t seen enough yet I guess. The raid they ran visually was cool and in fact it all is very pretty. I though it was okay for an Alpha first test. Just gatta see more.

With that said.

There is no fricking way I’d be handing out money to these people. Not yet.

I just picked up FFXIV and I agree that the game is really damn good, been having a lot of fun leveling. Best single player MMO as well IMO.

It's a fantastic game. I took a break after Shadowbringers, but all this hype really makes me want to catch up on the post 5.1 quests.

It has been the best MMO on the Market since HeavensWard. It really is just incredible and I cant believe it has taken this long for it to finally breakthrough. The team deserves it.

FF has won me over since I came back. I hit Heavensward yesterday. I just had to get over how small and confined the world feels in comparison to WoW. Ashes of Creation will have that advantage over FF as well.

FF did a lot of things right and brought some interesting innovation to the genre, but the world itself feels like you're traveling from one small glass box to another. That and the restrictions on movement like not being able to jump certain ledges that you should very clearly be able to jump are huge immersion breakers for me in an MMO. That said, I'd rather live with those shortcomings than play WoW in its current state. Blizzard has legitimately forgotten how to make a fun and engaging MMO.

Just as an aside, I'd much rather have crowdfunding and $500 alphas if it means developers can stay indie and not get run into the ground by production company demands and deadlines.

I agree. Console holds FF back in a few ways and that is one of them. I’d rather take that and an active player base than empty areas though and console give us more players.

FF isn’t without its flaws...PVP which I hope they improve on gets better..maybe with the influx of wow players the dev team will make it a priority.
