I got the first 2 on sale and I just cant seem to get into it like i can Rome total war. It encourages save scumming to a level unlike any game ive ever played the way that one outnumbered battle just ruins your entire playthrough.
Tactics playing as the pirate faction seem very limited as well in battle. The whole appeal of the total war games has always been tactical strategy to me and trying to win battles convincingly. Seems like no matter what my gunner units always get chewed up by the other factions hero units to a point where the wins arent even that decisive

The biggest differentiation in the Warhammer series is that it forces you to adapt to the right strategy/tactics based on the faction - there is a lot more variability in this series than any other, by a wide margin IMO.
The closest factions to regular TW tactics are probably Dwarfs or the Empire.

Like some other folks have said, the TW:WH games are much different than the historical ones. The hero units / magic / vastly different army abilities make for so many different strats and army builds.
To be fair, I also love the warhammer (and 40k) universe in general (lore, novels, etc) so I'm definitely biased.
I'd recommend checking out some vids from Turin, milkandcookiesTW, or Legend of Total War (cheesemaster extraordinaire) to get some tactical tips. LOTW has entire videos of saving "disaster" campaigns without any save scumming.

I went back to the original and played the expansions
