Scarecrow alone makes it better than Origins. They didn't cop out on him being the villain either, so that's really good.

I don't think I would have enjoyed this game as much as I did if I had played every game in the series. I played asylum and then this one

the batmobile almost singlehandedly ruins the game
i can sort of see where people are coming from with this, but it's still the batmobile and the novelty hasn't worn off. The Batman games have always been about the wish fulfillment of being the dark knight for me and driving the batmobile around gotham is a big part of being batman.

It just occurred to me that my enjoyment of these game ranks by order played. People seem to like asylum the best, but for me its the second best. I played city first, and then asylum, then origins. I guess that means my enjoyment was purely based on how tired of the formula I was becoming.

Asylum and City were awesome but they also came before this combat formula got ripped off. Now we also have games like mordor and upcoming Mad Max which are using the same system.

this
except I didn't play origins. btw thanks omlandsharks for telling me how the joker is the black mask :\ . finished asylum and city, loved both. knight for me is the official third and final game of the trilogy.

I agree with this. Batman has always been my favorite since I was a kid. I've played all of the Batman games and they haven't gotten old to me at all...Arkham Knight is no exception. I can see though if you aren't a huge Batman fan how it could get old but I think these games have created the Batman Universe to near perfection. I'm loving this one so far and about 1/4 of the way through.

if I wasn't such a big batman fan I'd be right there with you. even so, their formula has worn on me and glad this is the last of the series.
I keep playing, enjoying it, but thinking of ways they could of done better. hopefully someone else can come along and do better than rocksteady has. a few improvements off the top of my head: give me wayne mansion and the batcave to design as I wish. give me more batman vehicles to play with whenever I'd like to add more variety to completing missions. improve the combat mechanics. make gotham city more living and breathing where my actions as batman have an affect on the city and how I play. let me capture supervillians put them in jail, before they escape again after different amounts of time. let the supervillians find new ways after escaping to cause chaos before I capture them again, rinse repeat.

It'd be great if they could get away from the "everything happens in one night" gimmick. Give me a game where we can use the cave as a base of operations and do some actual detective work.
I'd love a game based on The Long Halloween. It would fit in perfectly with the Arlham universe continuity

just beat it. the last 2 hours or so are an abortion
i ended up only doing the perfect crime, firefly, twoface, and manbat sidequests. didnt care enough to do the rest. when i did all of riddlers stuff and then he said that to finish fighting him i would have to solve all 243 riddles, i almost powered down and sent back to gamefly

I enjoyed it the more I went, but feels like two games put together. Sometimes batman and some other game. I did enjoy the riddler obstacle races.

I beat the game yesterday. Here's my review...
Beware of Major Spoilers!!!
Good:
The graphics and Gotham as a whole was absolutely beautiful to look at and explore. It's like a mixture of Burton's Gotham mixed in with a modern day generic city. Rocksteady did a fantastic job in that regard.
The attention to detail in this game is insane and there's so many Easter eggs lying around in this game that they're still gonna be finding them for months. The ones that I'm excited as frick about are the ones referring to Superman, Lex Luthor and Metropolis. I really hope that's a signal for something down the road. It's Superman's turn now.
I love how the game is much more difficult with its problem and puzzle solving and there was quite a few moments in the game where I just couldn't quite figure out how to advance until it finally clicked and I saw that I need to move that thing, blow that thing up, hack that thing, charge that thing, or go through that thing. This game is pretty good in that regard.
I loved how there was quite a few moments where this game just absolutely scared the shite out of me. Examples are the manbat coming out of nowhere while I was grappling and roaring in my face and Joker putting a gun into my face at ace chemicals and the first few times he appeared everywhere I went. Those were a huge what the frick?!?!?! from me.
The gliding and grappling in this game is absolutely impressive and much more powerful than City and Origins and it's even more potent with the ejection seat in the batmobile.
I love how Joker was there to comment on nearly everything that I did in this game no matter how insignificant or major it was. Some of his comments were gold.
The batmobile was fun to drive and use in this game. I'm constantly amazed at how I can crash or run into anything or fall over and there is absolutely no damage whatsoever, that's quite a stark contrast where I'm used to seeing damage on the car and the slightest obstacle stopping me. I love how it was incorporated in to problem and puzzle solving. That's pretty innovative on Rocksteady's part. The Batmobile is at its best when you feel like you're in control. It's fun when you're not forced to actually use it over and over. When you're outnumbered, bringing in your Batmobile and mowing down thug after thug with your electric shield and rubber bullets never gets old.
I love how Ivy saved Gotham. She's the true hero of this game.
I don't mind how Joker is a focal point of every game in the Arkham Series. This series is a story between Batman and Joker that started two decades ago in origins that started it's climax in Asylum, go to the top of the hill in City and started coming down in Knight. The climax took several years to do and I have no problem with that.
This story was well done for the most part and Scarecrow really outdid himself in this game but the real best part was the ending where you play as Joker with the Jokermobile and Batman is hunting you and I thought that was a pretty good twist on the ending.
The Bad:
For once, I agree with gamespot, the batmobile has way too big of a role in this game to the point where it feels like its forced and I feel like there was way too much battle mode in this game and not enough pursuit and the boss fights are the biggest example of that.
The boss fights are the biggest disappointment in this game and Rocksteady's biggest failure with this game. It was either through a specific set of button prompts in a mini cut scene, a predator takedown fight or a goddamn tank battle where you run and play hide and seek, tag or whatever. Biggest example was the fight with the Arkham Knight and Deathstroke and that was a disappointing conclusion. Origins may get a lot of shite but it will never get shite for that epic fight it had with Deathstroke early on in the game, that was fun and exciting to play and I was hoping that Rocksteady would build off of that and apply it to at least 2 or 3 villains but there was no such hand to hand combat fight with any of the bosses in this game. Leaves me with an empty feeling.
The Clock Tower, Wayne Tower, The Movie Studios with the fake jokers, and the batmobile repair places were cool and all but it has nothing on the Batcave and I was desperately hoping that it would be in this game and it would complete the Batman experience driving into and out of the fully functional and technologically advanced Batcave that puts the Origins version to shame. That's a huge missed opportunity.
Anyway, it's still a pretty good game and while this game has few things that bring it down quite a bit, it's still a pretty damn good game that's fun to play with a very entertaining story that goes a lot longer than your average movie and a few months of new issue comics. It's like pizza in sure it's not the greatest thing ever but it's still pretty damn tasty and will fill you up.
Final Score: 8/10
End of Review
I don't see how they can do another Arkham game with Batman's identity being revealed and if there's another one, it will have to be a sequel to origins.
Here's what I would do for the next Batman game....
Copy and paste this game with all its functionality.
Keep the batmobile as it is right now but dial back the excessive tank fighting and ban it from boss fights except for a few moves here and there and cut scenes.
Include the a fully functional and technologically advanced batcave that connects to the city that we can drive in and out of and put some really cool secret entrances there like a dumpster secret entrance next to an abandoned building at the docks that actually leads to the batcave.
Make the story stretch out beyond one night and give us some aspects of Bruce Wayne gameplay and play really hard off that secret identity aspect of the Batman.
