Yea, I cannot get the hang of the shotgun in crucible.
It is taking three hits to kill anyone, even from really close, yet I'm getting taken down from a good 15 yards away in one shot.

Nope, non leveled. I've got a 106 shotgun, I would think that would be fine either way.

You have to complete a couple story missions first

Get to level 5 and you unlock it. It's called the crucible and it's a destination for your ship once it's available

Have any of y'all done the strike mission on the moon? Holy shite it was hard. We did it on the level 12 difficulty. Took a good 30 minutes or so.

I haven't done any strike missions yet. I've only been playing solo so far and from what I here you need at least one other person

The strike missions will pair you with people if you don't have anyone with you, but yes you need a group.

Yea, that was it. We adopted the strategy of staying in that room that you start in so tht it bottlenecked the enemies. When those waves stopped, we'd peak out and shoot the ogre. Trying to just fight in that room was suicide.

Sounds like you really gave the game a chance. The game unlocks as you level. Once you hit level 5 you unlock crucible which is multiplayer.
I myself am not one for campaign, co-op or single. But the multiplayer aspect of this game is fun as hell.

After doing both Venus strike missions, I can confidently say that the moon still holds the crown for most infuriating strike mission.

We tried staying in the room but that damn purple floating sphere kept killing us. We just split up on the left side and took turns shooting its chest. Worst weak spot ever.
