No lies detected.

Wish Naughty dog asked for input from decent writers. . .

Did you ever play Manhunt?

But seriously I like realistic bullet damage in video games. Red Deads a good example. I like when games and movies get firearms right. I like when you go up to a workbench ellie clears the pistol before she works on it and racks a round in the chamber when she's finished with it. Youre in here reviewing a pretty frickin brutal game so if thats not your thing then this isnt really for you to begin with.

Red Dead doesn’t have a garbage story though.

Agreed. Red Dead is a truly great narrative. Id even venture to say TLOU part 1 is overrated but i get people loved it. I just didn't feel that story was transcendent like people would have you believe. The gameplay on the other hand really did it for me. I love a stealth game where you're not helpless. We're long overdue for a splinter cell reboot.

For those who are wondering why the spike in User ratings. I can promise you they are blocking negative reviews. I’ve been trying to post for 3 days and it will not let me.

I'm gonna be the minority on this thread. I think the second half of the game was so much better than the first half. I think they put way more effort into it. The ending was whatever, there is no denying it was a very fun game. And they should've made the very last clan more a part of the game. They were interesting

blood soaks thru bandages, bits of gore ends up on the ceiling, walls, (you) and drips down if you shotgun someone at close range...TLOU for me was never really a great story. IDGAF if Joel killed millions to save Ellie cause he missed his own daughter and found new love in a desolate apocalypse. i cranked up the difficulty and played for the unique combat

Different take than all the reviews I've read. Most people liked the open world section more than the linear part of the game.

I find it hilarious that it's 2020 and the FF7 remake that had a forced scene where Cloud dances super gay with a Tranny, but done with humor, and on every level it's better than TLoU2, one of the most hyped games of all time, loses out to a 25 year old game

another one of the issues I'm having. I'm playing on Survivor and it's still way too easy. im always maxed on materials and i get through pretty much every combat sequence with melee only. bullets are hard to come by but it doesnt even matter Maybe it'll get harder later on, idk.

the only time I've had to really use a gun in an encounter was my rifle for the 2 shamblers in the tunnels

No shite tho it was long as hell. whoever said he kept thinking it was about to end and it wouldnt was dead on.

frick. so it's another FFVII Remake basically. at least it won't be hours of backtrack padding though

some people take this game, and story driven games, way too serious. here's a reply from a reddit thread.

quote:

I finished yesterday night at 2 am, I couldn't sleep for 2 hours. I woke up now and I don't know how am I feeling about this. Everything feels so sad, I wanted these characters to live a better life, this was emotionally exhausting.

Not saying the game was bad, I loved the experience and I've never felt so many emotions for a game (or a film maybe even TV series actually). I felt so attached to these characters, expecially Joel.

Joel and Ellie are probably one of my favorite fictional couples and characters. This is why I feel so exhausted probably.

it's fricking video game
maybe it's just me, but when i put the controller down, my mind is on other things. i don't sit and process what i just witnessed for 2 hours in a video game.

Yeah there is way too much ammo/melee weapons and Ellie's switchblade is way too overpowered.

I disagree. sure, when i finish a COD campaign or something similar, I don't think twice about it. some art is made for the consumer to feel something or reflect afterwards, though

when I finished Life Is Strange, I was depressed for a day or two. when I watch The Wire Season 4 and see how these kids have no chance, it's pretty upsetting. nothing wrong with fictional characters/stories having an impact on you

i dont see how the undeveloped, cookie cutter TLOU2 characters could make someone feel this way, but to each their own

I don't see any problem with connecting to fiction as a whole, though

yeah, though I quite like the little melee dance you do with enemies. the dodge timings are pretty varied and the enemies will combo you and catch you off guard with the quickness

I know there are varying opinions on RDR2 but the ending before the epilogue had me pretty messed up I really connected with some of the characters, especially Arthur. even knowing his death was impending, it was still sad

The Last of Us 2 is a better game than RDR2.

yeah, theres no way someone could play RDR2 and not feel something afterwards.

now that i think about it, RDR2 is like the reverse of TLOU2.

RDR2 - myriad of gameplay issues but tight narrative execution and writing

TLOU2 - myriad of writing and narrative issues, but tight gameplay
