RDR2 had great parts of a story, but I thought overall it was pretty bloated and repetitive.

Yea, that is your opinion and that is fine. Most games maybe I can agree. But when I played TLOU, the original, I certainly thought about it after. Because in my opinion it was that well done. I do the same with well written books or movies. Not all video games need to be brainless.

i dont disagree, there were a few rough patches and missteps. but dear god there were so many memorable moments. assault on braithwaite manor, ride back from the island, train scene with the nun, arthur's final ride, the whole final act

RDR2 had so much time developing the side characters. they felt like real people.

TLOU1 did a great job of this as well, and TLOU2 does an AWFUL job of it. when you get ambushed in Seattle and the dude with the scar is talking to you, i didnt even remember him from the Joel scene. all the people in that group looked like generic video game characters, and the only ones they spent time with were Abby and Owen. they only 2 whose faces I would recognize outside of them are the Neil Cuckmann self-insert and the chick with the short hair. the rest, no way.

this game just tries so hard to be profound with its message and themes, but it doesn't work. a lot of what made the first game special is completely gone.

I disagree. sure, when i finish a COD campaign or something similar, I don't think twice about it. some art is made for the consumer to feel something or reflect afterwards, though

when I finished Life Is Strange, I was depressed for a day or two. when I watch The Wire Season 4 and see how these kids have no chance, it's pretty upsetting. nothing wrong with fictional characters/stories having an impact on you

i dont see how the undeveloped, cookie cutter TLOU2 characters could make someone feel this way, but to each their own

I don't see any problem with connecting to fiction as a whole, though

Yea I should have just kept reading. I agree.

The Last of Us 2 is a better game than RDR2.

everyone did. it was amazing.

I always tell people that it shouldnt have worked the way it did. They somehow managed to turn a generic setting, plot, and tropes into something profound, all through sheer brilliant execution.

thats why I think so many people were skeptical of a sequel. it's so hard to pull something like that off twice. 2 tries to be profound and just isn't

Cosmonaut Variety Hour's review

20 minutes long, but a good review of what he did and did not like. Gives it a score of 6.5/10.

At Best Buy right now and I am looking at least at 200 TLOU2 discs on the shelves.

I do. I buy the game, beat it, then sell it on ebay. That way the game only ends up being about 20 bucks.

Fair enough, I don't know, it's just too much hassle and storage space to deal with physical copies... I pre-ordered and pre-installed the game Monday, and was loading in just after 11:00 CT Thursday night, can't really do that with physical copies

If digital (new) releases were 10 bucks cheaper I would just buy the digital for the convenience.

Probably doesn't mean much. It had over 4 million individual players in the first 3 days. The game will sell over 10 million.
