They peaked in the mid-2010's and have been on a steep decline since. I would say NBA 2k17 was the last sports title I really got into. That's been 2-3 years ago.

Ultimate Team/eSports killed it for me. I play for the single player experience and they have completely mailed that in ever since UT/eSports took off.

I used to get NCAA, Madden and NBA 2k every year.

Absolutely.

They are the same thing every year except they’ve added ultimate team, allowing for more money to roll in.

The NBA 2k series has done a good job of offering numerous and rather noticeable changes every year.

But I am a sucker for the fun style games - NFL Blitz was amazing

I bought NHL Hitz 2002 a couple days ago and have loved playing it again, Peter Forsberg and Joe Sakic TYFYS

Exactly me. Although I did give Madden 18 a whirl after not having owned a Madden since 2010. It was ok. The presentation was impressive but I hate the gameplay compared to the old NCAA games.

I miss when sports games were off the wall.

NBA Jam
NFL Blitz
Bill Lambiers Combat Basketball

The beauty of a video game is you can do whatever the hell you want.

Like look at Rocket League, way more interesting and fun than the same exact FIFA game they make every year IMO.

There's a lot of interesting things they could do with sports titles, but they largely don't bother because the existing popular franchises are the most reliably selling titles in the industry.

The unrealistic ones are the only ones that stand the test of time. Tecmo Super Bowl, NFL Blitz, NBA Jam. Ken Griffey Baseball. Super Dodgeball

I try to go back and play Bases Loaded. I cannot believe I used to sit through 9 innings of that shite

Madden is fricking awful now, it's been the same exact recycled game since Madden 25. Every year they just "update" one small thing, and add a bunch of really bad animations that don't even make sense.

I would hope if they ever bring NCAA back, they don't let the Madden Dev team go anywhere near it.

The only reason to keep buying them yearly is for the new rosters with rookies for the next year. I currently buy Madden once every 3 years or so.

I used to love buying NCAA every year.

I kinda lost interest in sports games since NCAA no longer exists. I bought Madden 18 cheap just to give me my football fix. But I have no intention on buying another football game until I get a new console and retire the Xbox One.

Madden and NCAA were always annual buys for me growing up but I haven't played either since the last version of NCAA.

I do buy FIFA and The Show each year though. FIFA actually changes shite with the game engine every now and then which is a nice touch. The Show doesn't change all that much but I'm a big baseball guy so I get it just for the fix

I bought them every year growing up but they began to remove content and then reintroduce them a year or two later as new.

I still love playing the "off the wall" type sports games though. Skate, NFL blitz, NBA/NFL street, NBA Jam, and Dusty Diamond (for the NES).

Would be nice if they offered 85 members of all 120 teams $500 for their signature giving up rights to produce NCAA again how many would take it. God I miss that game . Madden just don’t play the same

There would be some guys that would lol at that $500 and mess it up for the dudes on the "bad" teams.
