Sony Interactive Entertainment, currently riding high on record sales of its PlayStation 4 gaming console won’t be hosting its annual press conference or showing up at all during next year’s massive E3 expo.

Interesting. Doesn't Sony already do something themselves? Its at Paris right?

Not surprising, they'll unveil the PS5 next year and I'm sure they'd much rather do it at their own event than the declining E3 event.

There is going to be a huge mega event next year with TLOU2 on PS5 with the PS5 reveal.

Dang. Just realized it has been over a year since the awesome clip from Paris Games Week.

Looks like they skipped PGW this year and not having PSX.

At least we won't have a repeat of the weird presentation format they used at this year's E3.

Sony is basically saying they have nothing new in development for PS4 that we haven't already seen.

That's kind of disappointing really. Hope there's some interesting stuff from the third party conferences.

With the advent of the Internet and sites like Youtube, why are these trade shows like E3 so relevant still?

Just air the damn thing on the web from the comfort of your own studio.

All the demos they put on are scripted anyway.

Not sure why they need to be there in person, but a lot more eyes are on gaming news during E3 week than otherwise.

Looks better to have a big audience going wild over game trailers.

Oh yeah, has been for years.

This is yet another blow to the annual Los Angeles trade show, which has seen multiple publishers drop out over the past few years.

All they did was play some weird flute shite, show off some generic zombie survival game and make us sit through a cringed lesbian makeout scene anyway.

Sony has become so pompous lately. Like bruh, your pro models can’t even handle Just Cause 3.

It’s also yet another hint at the timing of Sony’s next PlayStation. Based on conversations with developers across the industry, I expect the PlayStation 5 to be released in 2020, and the publisher skipping E3 2019 certainly points to that.

How is Hitman on the switch? Black Ops 4? Assassin's Creed Origins/Odyssey? Monster Hunter World? Far Cry 5? Destiny 2? Fallout 4/76? Shadow of the Tomb Raider?

I mean hes not wrong. We are talking about the same company who were refusing to allow others to play with their gamers when they were the only people disallowing it.

Agreed for once. Nintendo was ahead of the curve here. E3 is irrelevant. The only reason Comic Con will stay relevant is the cosplay and autographs.
