So it seems the Forspoken (ps5) demo has been getting shite on

Mainly for sub par graphics and an annoying protagonist. Haven’t played the demo myself but was pumped to make this my next game so the news sucks
May just hold off until Hogwarts Legacy or been debating on picking up Crisis Core: Reunion since I never played the original then finishing FF7R. Suggestions?

I played the demo the other day and it was pretty meh. The controls are far from smooth, the graphics leave a lot to be desired and yeah i dont think im the intended target audience for the story line. It has some flashes of looking really cool and stringing together some neat combos but over all i think im going to skip this one unless its super cheap or free game of the month.

I've got no way of playing it to say for myself, but have been lightly following it since announcement. I saw a video on YouTube basically saying that there are several hidden controls in the demo to make combat smoother, but the demo does nothing to shed light on said controls. Something about swapping skills on the fly idk. It is a disappointment though - Sqaure was a great company in the SNES/PS1 days and still put out a few good titles, but more often than not anything they do becomes a let down these days.

Saw some gameplay of Forspoken and man it looks unbearable
Definitely waiting for Hogwarts Legacy until I see a fair amount of gameplay, I'm hopeful it'll be one of the better games this year. Wouldn't be surprised if it's bad though, developers have promised a lot

I have a 6th sense when it comes to predicting which games will be shite and which ones will be good
this one has looked like shite from jump street. skip it
ETA: and im not sure I could come up with a worse title for a game. horrible

I uninstalled that demo within 5 minutes. Just wait until you hear the dialogue in the game... combat was wonky af but this main protagonist is terrible. Gonna be some woke shite inserted in this game..

This was my reaction to the demo as well. Seems like a game to pick up when it’s 15-20 bucks

I’m not surprised. Ever since announced it seemed underwhelming. The first ad for it and the radio silence on it didn’t help.

Yeah getting pushed back 2-3 times is never a good sign

The effects of marvel on dialogue writing has been a disaster

It is dude. Marvelization is the worst thing to happen to media in years

As someone who doesn't watch many Marvel movies, what's the short version?
Posted on 1/19/23 at 7:55 pm to Joshjrn
i assume the overuse of quick, one line, quippy dialogue.
i haven't watched in dialogue heavy stuff for forspoken but i wouldn't be surprised that's the style they go with.

There can be no serious moments without a joke thrown in and I’m over the “ad-lib” style quips too.
Have you seen The Last Jedi? The scene where Poe is prank calling Hux is a prime example of Marvelization, IMO. It was basically a Star Wars version of the opening scene of Thor: Ragnarok where Thor is quipping at Surtur.

While I have, it was so forgettable that I don't remember that scene. And I haven't seen T:R. I'm out of the loop

I played most of the demo. The combat system re uses a lot of animations and is in the same style of FF15 with O being a bound dodge and block button which shouldn’t really be surprising since they made that too. It’s pretty meh or mid imo. I seriously doubt it will have anything close to the story or interesting aspects of FF15 that kept me going to the finish line because the combat sure as hell didn’t.

This is kind of why developers/publishers never release demos anymore.
The demo better be a damn near outstanding slice of the game otherwise, it only serves to hurt sales. Unless of course, the game actually needs a demo to drum up hype.
This feels like one of those odd games where gaming media and the publisher is treating it like the next big major AAA release, but actual gamers just don't care about this game at all

This game is not good. Pretty big Oof from SE. I’ve played about 3 hours ish and reckon it’s 5/10. Wait for a sell.
