This conversation got me curious, so I went hunting numbers. Here's a study from the Bureau of Justice Statistics published in 1994 with data from 1987-1992. Only 1% of all carjackings we're committed by women alone during that time. Only 6% were a men and women acting together.

Here's the same report from 1993-2002. The female numbers increased to 3%.

I would think there would be another of these reports ending in 2012, but I can't find it. Based on the first two reports I feel confident enough now to say definitively that it is extraordinarily rare and unusual for a woman to be the successful perpetrator of a carjacking.

You keep mentioning gameplay mechanics that would actually be immersion-breaking if removed. Next we're going to pretend the characters being a bullet sponge means Call of Duty should add cyborg females to World War 2 games. Yes, we're all aware it's a video game. That doesn't mean every aspect of the game has to be fantasy. If it isn't a gameplay mechanic to make a game enjoyable to play, GTA's protagonists typically haven't been able to do things outside the realm of the physically possible.

I must play GTA very differently than you.

GTA has been my favorite series since Vice City. But my expectations for this game couldn't be lower. No Lazlow. No Dan Houser. No humor in the game.
