Unfortunately going to give it a shot. I bought SK knowing it was going to be crap, this one at least looks more promising than that.

I downloaded WoW because it’s Halloween and always loved the undead city area around Halloween. Haven’t made it there yet.

I'm going to wait and see. Wrath is plenty good enough for the time being.

No, sorry. That game sucked a ton of my life away before.
Mostly for the “benefit” of playing in a raid guild that were, if I were generous, I’d say took the game a bit too seriously.

This was me in Everquest

I quit because my life became:

-Have to log on at this time
-Have to do this hours long progression
-Have to MT
-All so the guild leader could get a leaf or some shite

shite became a job. felt like I was punching a clock

Only MMO I have played since then, is SWTOR. . .casually

Did it in EQ2 as well. Mostly because it was something my first wife and I did together.

I don't know exactly when video games became such a slog, be it MMOs or Ranked tiers (like Competitive in Overwatch), but damn did it get from "this is fun" to "this is a second job, but one I pay to do."

I’m gonna give it a shot. Mostly just plan on doing the same thing I did with shadowlands which is play through the campaign, max my gear out to the best of my half-assed ability, and then get as high as I can in a few pvp rankings (1800ish) before dwindling out and going back to destiny to repeat pretty much the same process for that new expansion.

frick yes I am. I never left. Shadowlands was a real disappointment and I stuck through it, but I am definitely ready for a reset.

I spent probably 8 hours yesterday setting up talents and new UI on all my characters. I'm ready AF.

I also played EQ starting in 99' on Prexus. I played that WAY too much

EQ quite literally fricked my life up, rather I let EQ frick my life up. I was in Arch Overseers on Bristlebane, which was a top 5 raid guild at the tune and had a few world firsts. I was giving 12 hours a day to that game for 2 or 3 years.

I gave up WoW in the Great Relationship Summit of 2010. Miss my guildies, but that's about it.

I was late to the party in EQ I didn't start until around 2000 on The Rathe, we had Blood of the Spider who woke the 1st sleeper and all hell broke loose.

EQ is and will always be my number 1 video game experience.

I called it quits a few weeks after my guild downed Yogg in Ulduar the week that raid released. I don't think they recovered after losing their main tank, but the game just wasn't fun anymore. The stupid raid checks in Ulduar to down the bosses "the hard way" were just awful.

If I had to do it over again, we just would have farmed the raid until new content came out. The gear from those hard mode fights wasn't worth it anyway.

They caught on that add-ons like DBM and Big Whigs were not going away, so they started designing the raid encounters assuming people had those enabled. I understand there needs to be complexity to make the fights interesting amd engaging, but some of the mechanics these days are just ridiculous, particularly instant kill/wipe mechanics. I've never been a fan or zero tolerance for error fights.

There has to be some happy medium between the EQ style stand and grind, CH rotation type fights and fricking Spine of Deathwing. I'm not sure they've consistently found it.
