Shadow Of The Colossus

Late to the party post. Just took down the first colossi and what an experience! The controls took me a little bit to grasp as I didn’t know much going into the game. The strategy of getting to the best spot to take him down, the music, the sound of every footstep. This is going to be an amazing time if the entire game is like this. Do they get into any sort of lore other than the opening cutscenes?
Edit: Just took down the second one and calling it a night. So far this has been a hell of an experience. Still not sure what it’s all about story wise but it’s unlike almost anything I’ve ever played!

Is there a remastered version of this game?

It’s been on my radar so I will have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah it came out a few years ago. I highly recommend it!

One of my all-time favs. That's one that I wish I could forget and replay without memory on how to beat each boss.

The only drawback to these Team Ico games (Ico, SotC, Last Guardian) is the controls can really be frustrating. Not sure if there is any other game to compare it to. Everything else, the stories, settings, and music, are top notch.
The fact that SotC came out on PS2 is kind of a minor miracle. Like, how did that game play on the PS2? I heard someone joke that you almost expected your console to start levitating at some point.......or explode.

Yeah the controls were frustrating the hell out of me just trying to ride the horse or minor platforming. I just reminded myself this game came out so long ago that I’m lucky to even be experiencing it.

They really didn't change a whole lot about it Last Guardian. Maybe a little polish.

It and Ico are both masterpieces. Fumito Ueda is a genius

I tried playing this last weekend and beat the first colossi as well but I had to stop playing. The controls are too floaty. I really wanted to love the game, and I love the atmosphere, but I could not get over the floatiness of the controls.

They are the cause of some frustration now. I’ve taken down a few more colossi and you really need the controls to be tight but they’re just not. I’m fighting through it because I want to finish and see what happens at the end but it has some frustrating moments the tougher the bosses get.

Both Shadow and Ico are incredible games, especially games as art. I usually don't recommend them to people though, as I'm never sure how they will be received, but they are among my favorites.

Did not care for Ico but loved Shadow when it came out.

It's one long escort mission, so if that's not your thing there's no hope

I really liked it but I get how it rubbed people the wrong way.

One issue I had with the remaster is that they messed up the protagonist's face and eliminated all the facial animations.
I think they also didn't do the deterioration properly, where he looks worse with each colossus he kills, but they may have fixed that with more recent iterations.
The fifth colossus is still one of the best video game experiences I've ever had.
ICO will always be my favorite, but I think all three games are great. The Last Guardian being the weakest, but still worth a try just for how they designed the animal.

It's kind of the appeal. Your character isn't some great magnificent warrior. He's a regular dude, and he's kind clumsy. Think of it that way, and it's easier to deal with.
It's a spectacular game and I'm jealous you get to experience it for the first time.

Good point, however, f___ that bird! Haha, I’ve been thrown off it’s wings more times than I care to admit.

Game is unreal.
I wish I could forget everything and play it for the first time.
