Seems like every positive Twitter review for Star Wars: Outlaw is from a "pronouns in bio"

type. Generally activists with an axe to grind..
Anyone here played the game and have any thoughts?

Star Wars has become a "pronouns in bio" franchise in general.

I haven't been very impressed by the videos I've seen. My wife saw an interview with the actress who did the voice and mokap for the main character and she said "they made her look AWFUL" in that game.
There's no getting around it. They definitely made her look dog ugly and I honestly can't believe the actress agreed to that.

The videos look pretty bad

The couple of YouTubers I follow who have reviewed it utterly fricking trashed it. They could be closer anti-wokers, but I don’t have high hopes.

The in game cutscenes are Mass Effect Andromeda level bad

Ubisoft making a game that’s not total dogshit challenge: impossible
Western devs need to learn from the orientals and quit making ugly arse fricking characters. Get real

I’ve heard it’s basically a great value brand uncharted.

I’ve put 7 hours in so far. Game is a good time, graphics are great. I have no complaints except for the stealth play, but I just hate stealth play.
Joined Ubisoft+ for 18$ a month, I’ll have this beat in 2 weeks, play some other titles and save 40 bucks.

I imagine it will hit Game Pass before long. I'll probably give it a shot if that happens.

The thing on the right looks like Rocky Dennis. That had to be done on purpose using the lowest settings possible, I haven't seen any videos that look that bad.

You joking? She looks exactly like that in the launch trailer.

Those cut scenes would look bad on a game from 10 years ago! That looks trash! The mouth movements are terrible, and they made the lead actress look really weird.

I played it so you don't have to.
It's Uncharted. Like, the first Uncharted, not U2 or 3 or 4. Cover based shooting with basic "stealth". Just Star Wars paint on it. Cutscene, cover shooting and shoot the red barrels, cutscene, forced stealth section, cutscene, QTE, etc. You pick up and drop enemy weapons just like Uncharted.
There's a system where your choices will get approval from some crime syndicates and disapproval from others, but it's vapid and doesn't really matter.
I usually don't care about graphics, but this looks like an early PS3 title like...Uncharted.
The story is dull. Not bad or stupid, just dull. Kay Vess is as interesting as bottled water. I just started skipping dialogue and going to the next shooting arena because half the screen will be filled with info on what the mission is and where to go anyway.
Riding the speeders sucks. Constantly hit something or hit nothing at all and go flying off.
This is the kind of game you download as part of PSN's monthly free games, play for a few hours and put it away.

MOOVIE game
Watch cutscene and get excited for next cutscene! It's like a MOOVIE!

Not saying any of it looks good, just the model on the right. (I messed up and said left originally, sorry) The blurry texture and weird filter make it look like something from the Xbox 360 era. I guess if that was real I'm just surprised that anyone would release something that looks that bad in 2024. My main takeaway from the trailers was the unnatural movements of the character models.

The game is "fine." It's a 7/10 single player focused game set in the Star Wars Universe. We need more of those
Riding the speeder reminds me of playing Star Wars Galaxies only with way better visuals.
The blaster being basically the sole permanent weapon for the entire game was a mistake. Yes, I know you can upgrade it, but the weapons you can pick up from enemies are so much more fun to shoot. You just drop them the moment your gun overheats(?) or the moment you interact with anything in the environment.
I hate progression tied to doing x of y. Why am I having to play the game a very specific way to unlock an otherwise unrelated ability? Just let me level up and pick from a skill tree.
The main character doesn't look great. More than anything else, she comes off as looking very bland and forgettable. Props for the 1970s era haircut though.
This game runs like a dog on PC. If I turn all the settings to max without frame gen or DLSS (including the special Raytracing mode), I get like 20 FPS in an open field with a 4090 and a Ryzen 9 7950X3D.
Even if I turn off fancy ray tracing and just go with regular ray tracing, I drop as low as 70 FPS with Ray Tacing on (Frame Gen enabled but no DLSS upscaling).

Are you familiar with "Ubisoft" at all? "Pride"? "Craftmanship"? "Good"? Those words aren't in their vocabulary.
On the other hand, if you don't like the game, you're probably an istophobe, so there's that.

That is why I can't play the Yakuza games. Walk to the counter, 2 minutes of dialogue or cutscene. . .turn towards door, 5 minute cut scene or dialogue Fight a guy, 20 minutes of dialogue and cuts cutscene.
Yakuza is a hundred hour series of games with about 7 minutes of actual gameplay.
