Well, a lot of the stuff I thought I knew about the entire process was from TV or movies. A lot of the preconceived ideas I had about it were blown out of the water. I just assumed that was an old practice.

Sitting outside enjoying a cup of coffee.
Not sure if the baby will spend the night in the nursery. Not even sure the offer it for well babies.

Any family in the delivery room? My wife made the call early on that absolutely nobody but medical personnel would be in there, and I'm glad we did. I see pictures of family in there all the time and I just don't get it.

i disagree
missing out on a little extra sleep is worth it to be there for the baby those first couple of nights

Predictable, but nice.
I guess if you have a fussy baby, the temptation is real to send him off to the nursery. My son hardly cried at all, so we had no problem keeping him in the room. Plus, with the jaundice, it was important to feed him as much as possible, and I'm certain those nurses would have just let him sleep until he woke up hungry.

While I don't agree with ABomb about it being dumb, to each their own. Has nothing to do with love (I realize you went extreme to top his level of disagreement).
If you want the kid there, by all means, keep them. We felt it best for mom's health, as she would have him from minute one at home, to send him.

It's a terrible burn.
The baby will get plenty of care, food and sleep. Momma needs it too.

Agreed, but that's totally her call, and if we did have the option to put him in the nursery, I wouldn't have even attempted to talk her in to it if she didn't want to. She wanted him right away and it was really important to her for them to bond as much as possible at first.

We did the same as Abomb and Ebell
Sent ours to the nursery. Wife had two sections, she needed the rest. Plus her grandpa died the day that my oldest was born
ETA: plus she breastfed, so they sent them back every few hours to naw
