from my experience, they dont let you in the room when they put it in
for the actual birth, i didnt watch the first time, stayed on the hand holding side of the cloth wall....but for the 2nd one i watched
it was something special to see.....you don't really think about it being gross, its just an amazing thing
i suggest watching if your SO allows it

They ushered me out for epidural time.

I was in the room both times she had it administered. The second time, she was in so much pain from the contractions that I was holding her up to keep her from falling on the floor. They propped her up on the edge of the bed so they could get to her back and her head was resting on my chest. She never felt the actual epidural.

Make sure you're with the baby when they start to get everything else out. Trust me.

very nice. You in the room right now, or have you grabbed a Mountian Dew, some Cheetos, and watching some NFL Live in the waiting room?

My internet was fine, just never got on my computer much of the time. If we weren't taking care of the baby, it was sleep.

I'm doing quite well.
Word of advice. Send the baby to the nursery at night, for however long you are there. Good chance to catch a little bit of sleep. They nurses take care of baby. You sleep as much as you can.
When you get home, it won't be that way. Take advantage. Your wife will want he/she there. Stick to your guns. Both of you will be happier.

i disagree
missing out on a little extra sleep is worth it to be there for the baby those first couple of nights

sounds legit, if you can talk the lady into it.

The hospital we were at didn't have a "manned" nursery, so he was back with us after getting cleaned and checked on. I got the impression that not a lot of hospitals do this anymore, but maybe they were just telling us that.

Seriously? That just sounds weird.

This.
Sure, the sleep would have been nice, but we definitely didn't want to be separated from him too much.
