why didn't they show the console?
Posted on 2/21/13 at 6:33 am to Devious
So they showed the hardware, controller, and some ps exclusive game play?
Posted on 2/21/13 at 6:42 am to lsuchamps23
They never showed the actual console, but they did show the controller and the eye and some games. No BF4.

So they showed the hardware
They never showed the hardware or specs of it outside of the memory. Their words were something like "a high performance CPU and enhanced GPU".

You can pre-order Watch Dogs for $99.99

Oh and Sony might not even show the console at E3. WTF?

Speaking with Polygon, Yoshida said, “The console is just a box. The controller was very important to show because it has the share button, but the console is just a console.”
When asked if the press would see the final PS4 rig at E3 2013, Yoshida replied, “We’re still trying to decide that.”

Where did I say they were? More specific than they gave during the conference.

I can tell you my computer has an 8 core CPU and a video card that does 2.00 TFLOPS. Does that really tell you anything about my system?

best quote ive seen sum up the PS4 vs Xbox debate.
quote:
Either way, the inclusion of AMD 7000 series graphics would put the new Xbox on a par with the current rumoured specs of the Sony PS4 which is in turn expected to also contain AMD Southern Islands graphics as well as an AMD x86 CPU.
Next-gen gaming
It would put the two consoles on level footing in terms of performance as they will essentially contain the same hardware, though by the time they actually go on sale they would to be hopelessly out of date compared to modern PCs.

It's not.
Processing speed, how the ram will be distributed, core clock speed, etc. are the specs I want to see.
Here is where I am coming from, last night Sony skirted around showing the console and any firm specs and now they are saying they might not even show it at E3. The games they showed, outside of 2, were just cinematic crap.
Anyone can make cinematics look great.
Remember this trailer? It is 3 years old and looked nothing like the game.
LINK
I could post a hundred more.
Maybe I am a cynical bastard but Sony hasn't sold me yet and I have owned every PS since PS1. In fact, the way they are handling not releasing more info has put me off at this point.
I may change my mind and I know it doesn't matter to most of you here and other consumers but I like seeing true specs. It takes more than flashy shiny objects (game trailers) to sell me. Seeing specs and more info makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside about my purchase.

You said they were specs, but those are hardly what I would call "specs"
Posted on 2/21/13 at 7:48 am to stout
Finally. I can get on board with that. But I have to be honest, once I see specs, I don't know what to make of them. That's where you nerds come in.
