I finally got the accessories in for this z77 OC formula and it comes with Gelid Thermal Compound. That's a first I have seen for a motherboard.

Blue, make me a deal on that mobo and 955 you have on r/hardwareswap
I would just need enough to buy a used 8320.

That would be about $120?
I'm out then. I am trading Bruce for his 955 but wouldn't mind another for something else I am working on.
I might trade a guy on Reddit an Extreme4 for his 6300

So I ran te metro benchmark and was disappointed with how little difference it made. The gpu overclock adds about 3 fps max and the CPU overclock at 4.1 didn't effect anything. I knew it wasn't going to jump too much but I was hoping for a little more boost. I know other benchmarks may be different though.

Eh maybe cheaper. I just cant get rid of my 955 because I'll be without a processor

So Steam isn't reading my games or something. It's making me install everything again. My HDD is still functional and everything is still there.

I wouldn't expect any performance boost in games from an overclocked CPU, except maybe in games that are CPU-dependent like Civ 5, Starcraft, Skyrim, etc. Even then, if those games suck at using multiple cores you may not see a benefit.
I would've expected better temps from a hyper 212, but I guess I'm too out of touch with air cooling capabilities these days.
Also, I just woke up 30 minutes ago, and my internet is down. Worse, is that I'm leaching a random neighbor's wifi right now and I know he has cox as well. His shite is working.

Not sure if already mentioned but Newegg has the Powercolor 7950 Boost for $200 (new) until Monday.
LINK
Not the best 7950 Boost (runs hot and loud and wont O/C too much because of that), but for $200 the performance is tough to beat for a new card.

I couldn't stand them. I love blues, and I would probably like browns
Which type is the best for typing? I use my rig for work/typing much more than I do for gaming. And I've always just used rubber dome keyboards for gaming. I only have experience using the Red switches. They were loud, but also felt kind of light. I'd have expected it to have a little more resistance, like those old keyboards of yesteryear (I think they used a spring that buckles to make contact).
I wish I could take one for a trial run for a week.
I would really miss my keyboard display though.

It may oc a little better. Running 3d mark and what not it doesn't go above 65. It's the random prime95 spikes that stop me from pushing it

Very impressive. We are going to have quite a few rigs competing for top spots in our next benchmark contest.
Gardoki, Prime is really only good for stability. These days, I use it to test for immediate crashing. It's a very quick way to test overclocks, as it is very sensitive to errors. Prime blend will sometimes catch memory errors in 10 minutes that memtest would never catch. A lot of folks still think you should prime for 24 hours, and yes, you might get an error or BSOD after 17 hours, but the odds of that ever affecting real world use is slim. Hell, there are folks out there with overclocks that are not prime stable whatsoever (errors or bsod after only a few minutes of prime) but still never experience any problems outside of prime.
As of late, a good "realistic" test for heat and stability is AIDA64. It's a pay application but has a 30-day fully functional trial. It does a much better job of simulating the most CPU hungry real world applications.

I may push it a bit more then. I have some more room. My CPU throttles at 95 I believe.

Where is everyone today? The other day I couldn't even keep up with the activity.

I was busy today repairing and modding a Cooler Master case I had. Not much of a mod but I took the side window out and put in some expanded aluminum so it could breathe because that case has horrible air movement and only two fan options. I then painted it all and hrew some spare parts I have in it and am about to put it on the Ft Polk exchange here for sale. Soldiers usually eat this shite up.

Aida64
Been using this for the last couple of weeks. I like it and it seems accurate. My OC isn't P95 stable but can pass hours of Aida64 and is real world stable.
