They are coolers for the most part on reference boards. You can't always just rank companies, but the series or line can be.

However Gigabyte > PowerColor usually. Post the exact cards for better comparison.

And PowerColor is old and extremely well known. What you mean you haven't heard of?

I guess I mean their marketing isn’t as well known for me as the other brands. Like MSI, ASUS, XFX, etc.

Microcenter has the 2700x for $199 now, and still part of save $30 with mobo deal:

Man, going to make me re-think going 3rd gen Ryzen with that kind of price. I wonder if it will drop even lower in a week or two (prime day competition?).

Microcenter also has the 2920x for $299, 1950x for $329. 16 cores now for just over $300

I'm not certain this is a good or bad thing.

Edt: they are famous for the "DEVIL" card every gen. It's like their version of MSI's Lightning.

Yup, that’s the board. I may end up getting the MSI Vega 56 OC because I’ve never heard of PowerColor. Going through some of the reviews on Amazon didn't sound to good. What’s y’alls thoughts on PowerColor?

I've never had an ATI/AMD card. EVGA is my preferred brand for Nvidia.

That's basically AMD's version of an 8700k, right? It was about 10% slower on Techspot using DDR4 3400.

My Vega is Sapphire but I've had a PowerColor before they are fine. Would put their Vega series cards ahead of Gigabyte.

It also depends if reference 3rd party or custom 3rd party or even custom cooler only 3rd party.

But yeah UH, PowerColors are fine cards. They used to be one of the cheaper cards along with XFX but AMD expects more from their 3rd parties now. They made everyone up their game across the board like when they got real again with GPUs after say 2014-2015.

Edt: If anyone here remembers how nearly all AMD PCBs be it MOBO or GPU would feel "gritty". Cheaper manufacturing processes. That seems to be eliminated.

Late to the party on posting but keep forgetting.

But nothing gets me excited like new powerful SBCs. I use them not just for emulation but servers, mapservers, adblocking, packet sniffing, security, fun projects.. I love SBCs, esp RaspPis.

From TomsHardware

The Raspberry Pi 4 has similar design and dimensions to its predecessors, but it’s an all-new platform, powered by a new processor, the Broadcom BCM2711B0. Since the first Pi in 2012, all Pis have used 40nm SoCs, but this new chip is based on a 28nm process and, instead of the older Cortex-A53 microarchitecture, it uses Cortex-A72. The BCM2711B0 in the Raspberry Pi 4 has four cores and is clocked at 1.5 GHz, which at first blush, doesn’t seem much quicker than the quad-core, 1.4 GHz BCM2837B0 in the Raspberry Pi 3B+. However, Cortex A72 has 15-instruction pipeline depth, compared to just 8 on the older model, and it also provides out-of-order execution so it’s not waiting for the output of one process to start on another. So, even at the same clock speed (and the BCM2711B0 is based on a smaller process node), Cortex-A72 processors will be significantly faster and use more power than their A53-powered ancestors.

Remember this is a new Cortex and Graphics Engine. Give it a month for bugs to be worked out if you plan to use this for emulation.

Nevermind. 19 CAS is good at 3600.

Also, you should at least check out r/HardwareSwap. I know other people here vouch for it.

So "Super", "FTW".. things like that are words usually reserved for Factory OC'd cards, etc. Stupid shtt.

But.. in this case, this is a WHOLE new chip. Well, a cut down TU104 with 34 of 36 SMs enabled. It is basically a 2080 which didn't meet spec but can hit clock without much leakage on the enabled SMs. I'm trying to find the chip number for both these without much luck. Not looking too hard though.

2070 Super doesn't use the TU106 but the TU104.
2060 Super still uses a TU106, it is basically a 2070 which didn't meet spec.

nVidia does this a lot, so does AMD. They are probably good chips that have silently not up to spec SMs which became damaged after cutting. My problem is with the naming convention. It is stupid and confusing to most consuming. Esp when say driver update time comes.

Also sort of annoying for call outs for programs.

Part of me misses when GPU box art used to be flaming dragons with robot knights and angels and demons flying around.
