When and what technology made using defrag on a HD obsolete?

Defragmentation on SSDs is not needed due to uniform access times across the media. With windows 7, MS started automatic defragmentation so it became transparent to the user.

MSI X370 carbon mobo
gskill ripjaw v series 2x8GB ram
500gb SSD

Speaking of those new Samsung's they announced, I think I'm gonna get the 27" QHD 144Hz HDR Freesync2 one over that 32" AOC non HDR.

Prefer to stay at 27" plus HDR QLED > non HDR LED.

Supposed to hit later this month or early July.

The specs don't look that promising. I think it's only 1080. That's going to look like shite up close on such a large display.

its over for the PC. 4k gaming consoles taking over

LINK

For many PC gamers it's about much more than just graphics quality, and they won't be moved by a cheap 4K games console. But next year, when I look at building a 4K-capable gaming rig or a friend asks me for some 4K buying advice, and I add up the cost of the components and arrive at a figure north of £1,000... well, that decision is going to be a lot trickier than I ever thought it would be

that minecraft 4K demo mustve been outstanding

not only are all the high end AMD GPU offerings perpetually sold out due to Miners, but now 1080 TIs are going out of stock like crazy. and its a $700 card

id say the Video Card industry is doing quite well for itself.

This clip from the Intel E3 showing is hilarious

Announces they are taking preorders next week for the i7X-i9 and not a single clap, awk.

That pretty much represents the community as a whole right now.

I honestly felt sorry for the guy. He probably knows Intel is pulling some bullshite right now too and he had to sell it to everyone.

The PS4 and XB1 still struggle to hit 1080p at a consistent 60 FPS.

Gaming PCs are here to stay.

I'm planning on upgrading to skylake-x but I'm not sure if my power supply is going to be sufficient. My titan xps top out at 600w overclocked and the 7900x is extremely power hungry I imagine when overclocked. Can I get by on a 1000w power supply?
