I want to get a system for my son, but really not interested in building one, myself.
Are there any quality systems that come pre-packaged that are worth looking at, especially if there are good deals available. Kid is turning 14.

I'm no expert but from what I gather pre-built gaming rigs with actually decent specs are extremely overpriced. And if you go the budget route you get something subpar.
Which is why the master race folk are so vocal about building it yourself.
You and him building it together sounds like a fun and educational project?

For the love of God, people. The man said he has no interest in building the PC himself. Give him recommendations he asked for.
I've purchased iBuyPower PCs before that were a fair price and had good performance. I would look there. DO NOT BUY ALIENWARE

Skytech on Newegg is a good price for what they give and good quality. I had a few friends get them and they are happy

I have no recommendation.

of course building yourself is the way to go, but the man wants a pre built

I bought a Cyberpower laptop a couple of years ago during a Black Friday sale. It still runs great to this day. Never had an issue.

If you have an idea of what you want, sometimes on SlickDeals you can get a good deal on a gaming desktop.
I would be wary of HP and Alienware, though I did have an HP laptop that survived everything thrown at it. Alienware on sale is probably the same price of similar systems normally.
However, for context, they do have three tiers on their site:
Alienware $1,655.26

PowerSpec G434 $1,399.99

Skytech Blaze II Gaming PC Desktop AMD Ryzen 5 1600, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB for $504 FS
LINK
CyberPowerPC Desktop: Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RX 5700XT $1084

Got a MSI Trident III from NewEgg on sale. I built the same exact system on PCPartPicker and it was cheaper for the prebuilt. I lucked out. The only problem I’m running into now is that I’m limited on upgrades. It came with a GTX1060 3GB and in order to upgrade to a 1660 Ti I had to order the mini version because the case is the size of a console. It also has no disk tray which doesn’t matter to me because I get everything off of steam.

Go to Costco if you aren't interested in building. Stay away from Best Buy, iBP, etc.

Look at Micro center. They have some good deals and they have a wide range of gaming PCs.

I had a Dell xps back in the day and wasn't disappointed. Not sure how they have held up over the years though

I will second CyberPower PC.
While I enjoy and prefer building my own, it is not substantially cheaper to build your own unless you cheap out on the parts.

Which is exactly what pre-builts do, and even most times they're even cheaper parts

The prebuilt my ex GF got from Cyberpower had an Asus MB, Corsair Case, Fans, Liquid Cooler, PSU and RAM, and EVGA GPU
I priced it out and couldn't buy the same parts and build it any cheaper

I will give a third endorsement to CyberPower. Bought my son one a few years ago during late Christmas sale off Amazon and was pretty impressed. Great deals if you can wait for the big sales.

I scooped a solid rig during either black friday or another super discounted period two years ago. Have really liked it so far.
