EA suspends SimCity marketing
Apparently some stores have pulled the physical copies off its shelves. A poster on the official site posted a picture of a Target store with the shelf empty - store manager told him/her they were instructed to pull all copies.
ETA: of course, Amazon quit selling the Digital version for a while yesterday. LINK but then resumed sales today with a warning attached
This has surpassed any PEEJ level of fail. This has a new category at this point.

I bought it yesterday. Got through the tutorial, went back to the main menu to start my city, and it instructed me to do the tutorial again....then the server crashed.

plus you can't get your money back if you bought a digital copy. EA is just such a PoS company right now.

more servers wont fix all the shitty gameplay elements. glassbox will still be single threaded, subways will still be missing, as will any modding tools. oh and your city tile will still be the size of a village.

This is why I love credit cards. I would do a chargeback (and do the honest thing of uninstalling the game).

Look, they're still EA, they have too many moving parts, they expanded far too quickly. They can't handle everything and after SWTOR and this, They are, hopefully, figuring that out.
And people want them to handle microtransactions right now?
But they aren't the devil. Just a giant, amalgamation of great parts put into an inconceivable whole.

they did this to themselves, there is no reason that sandbox mode couldnt work OFFLINE except they wanted to use DRM at all times.
i understand they wanted to make the game multiplayer, but offline sandbox would have avoided all of this. server busy? ok ill just play my sandbox for awhile.

looks like their plans for SimCity is to sell tile sets at $10 each and individual building at $1-$2 each.
oh and of course limit the frick out of what an individual user can create and upload on their own.

Their FIFA games along with Battlefield are about the only redeemable qualities about that company. They're the epitome of everything that's wrong with major game developers.
