I keep getting tons of Doduos and Pinsirs; now level 8. My work has very spotty wifi/lte so it's really annoying that it doesn't track sometimes. There are tons of stops around here though.

What's the point of catching non-evolving pokemon or ones with only one evolution that you already have? I guess for XP and candy to use for powerups when you level up enough?

Probably. I can see 5 or 6 gyms and 10+ Pokestops on my map while in my house.

Has to be because I am not in a city, well unless Assumption Parish counts as a city

I hit up the gyms along 1 and 70 on my commute from Thibodaux to BR.

What team?

The best thing about Pokemon Go may be people getting upset that adults play video games. See the OT for prime examples.

So have a lot of you stopped trading your Pokemon for candy at the moment? Are you holding a bunch for evolving while using a lucky egg?

How do you get a "lucky egg"? I usually hold one of each type to evolve when I get enough candy. Just for the xp.

The blue one because it is the only gym around here, of course it is at the Assumption Church and by LeBlanc's so I haven't visited it.

yes. XP and Candy really, but also...

they could have a different moveset though.

For example, if your local gym is being dominated by one type of pokemon, you want to raise a pokemon to specifically counter that one.

A posted a chart a few pages back that listed out what types are strong vs what in a grid.

Differences in CP can be negated in a gym battle by using type advantage in your favor.

for a quick example, some pidgeys have Air Cutter (Aerial), some have Twister (Dragon)

Does it matter if they are XS or XL, does that matter how they evolve? Or the skills they have?

fwiw I've learned there is a downside to being around a lot of pokestops / gyms

I catch soooooooo many more pokemon when I'm at home than when I'm at work, because we live in the middle of nowhere, and there aren't any gyms within a mile of me... so there are grass patches EVERWHERE

at work, there are gyms and pokestops everywhere - in order to "catch them in the wild" - we have to go off campus... not complaining. I stock up on items while at work - and go hunting in my neighborhood at night!

All the posters bitching about that and calling Go players nerds....keep a record.

When football comes back in a few weeks, see which ones get all warm and tingly in their jinglies over their game of statistics known as "Fantasy Football".

Fantasy sports is way dumber and boring. At least we're getting exercise and not spending all weekend sitting on a couch staring at a tv, downing a case of beer, gallon of chips and dip, and 200 pieces of wings.

But.....NERDS!!!!!

Buy them and sometimes you get them when leveling up. I had a lucky egg last night and evolved a bunch of pidgey and rattata and traded them in and got 17k XP

I don't think their is a relation of xs/xl to moveset

xs and xl means they can have slightly more or less CP but it isn't that much and is really negligible

Ok I have an Eevee CP 97 that is XS and one that is CP 94 that is XL... wasn't sure if it made a difference on evolve or not.

if you look at their progress bars, the white "semi circle" above the pokemon picture, the XL evee will have less progress than the XS evee

meaning if you powered up those eevees completely, at 100%, the XL eevee would be stronger.

But its all very minor % changes.
and no it doesn't matter. an XS can turn into an XL and visa versa after evo. \

I think their is a correlation of their 2nd attack, their special move, and what it evolves into. So if you are trying to create a legit fighting gym taking pokemon you would want to evolve one with the very best special attack

Do not be blinded by CP . it means very little
