used my 900 Venusaur and got an 1800 Vaporeon to about 40% life or so before dying b/c grass owns water. I think type absolutely matters.

So when choosing between two Growlithe - one to keep as my highest for potential evolve and one to transfer for candy... I should keep a 421 vs a 441 if the lower CP one has a fire type basic attack vs a dark type basic attack?

I honestly don't know. I'm pretty sure attacks randomly change upon evolving. I do know that you probably shouldn't evolve an XL because they'll become an XS.

really?

It does 25% more damage, so yes.

Wonder what the logic behind this is. I haven't kept track, but this definitely seems to be the case - early on in the game I only kept and evolved my XL ones and IIRC more often than not they became XS versions. Makes no sense.

Hmm those maps are different than the ones I looked at. The ones I looked at didn't have LSU's campus on it.

Walked out my building for lunch and there was a cp539 Growlithe waiting for me. Took a while to capture him, but I did.

Level 22 any and every thing is popping out of balls and running

So I shouldn't be sending away all of my Pokemon if I had multiple them.
I've been only keeping 1 of each type.
Also, Why are there so many vaporeons and exeggutors?

Back from the zoo. Highly recommend going to your local zoo, especially if you're near a larger city.
Found a spot with 4 Pokestops, a group of us just kept setting lures and camped there for a while. Walked around the zoo twice, Pokestops at almost ever major exhibit. See a real animal, catch a fake one, farmed the pokestop, moved on
Maxed out my capacity for items and Pokemon. Even spent money to increase my capacity...and maxed it out again. I stopped counting, but I caught about 170 Pokes in about 5 hours.
Can't wait to drop a lucky egg and spam evolve a metric shitton of rattas and paras. It wasn't a factor today with all the stops, but man the pokes are starting to be a PITA about jumping out of the ball now. I need whatever the next level of ball is...Great Ball or whatever.
Nabbed 3 Pikachus and a few 600+ pokes. Leveled up to 13 from 9. A lot of fun. Felt like a kid when I was leaving...I didn't want to but my battery was potato.

I've only ever seen 1 Vaporeon (in the wild) and 1 Exeggutor in my time.
Each one of your pokemon can have a different attack, I had never paid much attention and simply evolved my hightest CP flower guy (bell-something to weeping bell?). He didn't have the grass attacks I wanted to use to go against the water types (need something to counter all the fricking Vaporeon's) so he essentially became worthless for me.
I personally think you're going to end up (for gym battles and friend battles later on) having a wide variety of pokemon to counter gyms and such, but at lower levels I really don't think it matters...just catch 'em all and turn them in to candy. Once you get some higher CP things to evolve, then you can start checking on specific attacks and looking for what you want strategy wise.

How much does it cost to increase your inventory?
I'm really tired of my bag being full at stops or them just not working. What's the damn point of working between two if they won't give me anything dammit.
Starting to get laggy...
Also how were you finding 600+ stuff at 13? I'm 19 and still rarely see that stuff. I probably need to get out of my little bubble more and wander around town.

ah yea, I forgot that basic attacks randomly change when evolving.

So I guess then better to just evolve strongest ones and hope the moves work out?
Just had 4 app freezes while catching stuff. A lure is out and it's going to die while this fixes itself

I was going ot ask how you manage that. I run mine on the drive to and from work every day just to hit pokestops and that 25 minute drive takes about 15-20% battery life, that is with the screen turned down too.

because vaporeon is easy to get and mad OP due to having the 3rd best basic attack in the entire game, a crazy amount of HP, high base damage, and guaranteed STAB bonuses
Posted on 7/20/16 at 2:11 pm to metallica81788
unfortunately, yes. I believe that to be the case.
if you want to dig deeper and further into the grind, each pokemon can have different hidden IVs (individual values) that determine how CP they get each power up.
one vaporeon may get 44 per powerup, another just 40, due to these hidden IVs
these only really matter to true min/max hardcore grinders, not really relevant to normal player

I bought 9.99 worth of coins. Upgraded the backpack and something else to carry 350 items/pokemon. I still got rid of a bunch of revives. Those are pointless for me right now.

Dumb luck I guess. I'll catch something in the 100s, then one with 10cp, then one with 200, then back down to 10. Just random as frick.
