Most likely not. In the reviews I've read, there is some backstory about how Kratos came to be this character.
The previous games were fun, but the story was basically that he became angry with the Greek Pantheon of Gods and butchered them all.

I loved that story and lore. Wish this game would have been something else. Kratos is a Spartan general, not a viking.

I don't know if they're completely abandoning the history. We'll have to see what the story does.
I have no doubt the game is great, but after some of these same sites gave Destiny 2 the same scores, I'll go into it with a little (ok, a lot) less faith in the reviews.

But it is his punishment. He has to live with killing/losing his family. No reason to get rid of that. Now he may have to go through it again.
