I watched an hour of gameplay just now and holy shite it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Epic as frick.

I played the other 3 and they were great but this is on a whole other level.

Yeah, I was trying to hold off on buying because I have so much going on right now but based on what I've seen and heard I just had to run and go get it. I'll find time to play I guess. Looks so damn good and watching Cory Barlog's interviews I couldn't contain it. GoW 2 was my favorite in the series. It was stupid of me to think I could wait.

I agree but I could see how anyone can make a case for any of them being a favorite or the best in the series.

Never played a GoW game (I know, I know)

If I start with this one, am I lost lore-wise?

Same, for me right now after 6 hrs in all I really feel is a lack of a deeper relationship with Kratos unlike ppl who have played them all would feel.

As of right now, this is up there with Witcher 3 personally as my favorite games of this gen

It's strange...having not played this new one but seeing videos about how Kratos has changed as a character being a dad and all is very intriguing to me. I was 21 when the first GOW game came out and now 34 and a father. Its wild to think that a video game character is growing with it's originally targeted audience but that seems to be the case here.

In the three Greek mythology entries Kratos was a wrecking machine hell-bent on revenge. This one it seems he's trying to leave the past behind and become a better version of himself and raise a son. It doesn't seem like we're getting the same character here. It's very interesting.

Gameplay is also very different but it's worked out for other franchises. It looks like the development team pushed all the right buttons and made a new game based on an old familiar character and seems like they nailed it.

To answer the question if you have the ability to play through the first 3 main entries to GOW then definitely do it. They were great games. If not, you may only be missing some back story on Kratos. I'm sure there are videos explaining the first 3 main games.

One of the most enjoyable things for me so far with this being Norse mythology, is seeing many things that are mentioned in the Thor movies. Hearing names, other gods, the realms, it’s really cool. They did a fantastic job with the Norse mythology.

The Thor axe return mechanic is so satisfying.

The combat is crazy good, it doesn't feel like GoW at all and yet it still manages to pay homage to it.

Phenomenal so far, I thought the kid would get annoying but the story so far is great and he actually is useful in combat without being intrusive so Kratos' flow battling.

Having a son of my own gives this game some feels in some areas for sure. Son (5) is loving watching me play and since the violence isn't really bloody is not so bad.

Truer words have never been spoken. I fling that shite all over the place if only for the satisfaction of having it return. I had to put it down today because I don’t wanna beat it anytime soon. It’s one of those games you wish the story lasted for about 40 hrs. It’s phenomenal.

Love it so far!!!

Played about 4 hours and then watched a video on IGN of them playing the game on the hardest difficulty.

Regular enemies can 3 hit and kill you. Some of the enemies morph and go up levels like from level 2 to 3 etc..., and one of the enemies was a one hit kill on Kratos.

I love a challenge so thinking of starting over from scratch and playing on the 'Give Me God of War' difficulty.

Yeah from the looks of the Axe combat and the fact it returns looks so badass and satisfying. I’m picking it up tomorrow.

If it’s anything like the old GOW games then it should be relatively long

Red Dead Redemption 2 may have some competition for Game of the Year after all.

Most reviewers stated that it took them between 20-30 hours to beat the story. Then there is more collecting to do.

Jeremy Davies (from LOST, Daniel) was awesome in that fight. It even looks like him.

I feel that isn't the last time I see him
