Are you equipping it after you give it to them? On the XBone, you just press Y on the piece of armor.

Press Y (on XBone, probably triangle on ps4) while trading in their menu to equip weapons/armor

I think that goes back a few pages ago. Using your supplies directly from the crafting/building menu only uses the 1 item you need for that build, then destroys the other components of the junk item.
Something with Nucleur material, gold, glass, and a screw, for example, will all be gone after the screw is used. So you're probably destroying half the junk you collect.
You have to physically drop all the complex items and scrap them while highlighted to secure all its components.
I'ts a stupid feature that needs to be fixed with the first patch.

It took me a while to figure it out as well because certain companions can only use certain weapons/armors and so the option doesn't always come up.
But if they can use it it's right there in the bottom menu.

I'm glad I'm not alone
I noticed it when Strong wouldn't use the super mutant armor. As far as losing scrap components that is fricking stupid. I didn't realize I was losing shite.

PSA: If you're going to dump a bunch of junk on the ground, and then scrap it all individually, do it on a ground you did NOT build. Your fingers will get in the X -> A habit, you'll miss one time, and you'll scrap the whole floor out from underneath you.
I ended up with with weapons bench, bobblehead stand, magazine rack, and myself one floor down too far one time.

I love the game so far. My only complaint is companions don't always get out of my way. I've almost been killed a few times because Preston's standing in a doorway and won't move when I'm tying to duck for cover.

People are having issues with FO4 performance? Shocked to hear that. Zero issues on my end and we don't even have SLi support yet. This is also modded with everything but the game breaking mods.

It runs well(60 fps locked) in most places. There are some places where everybody(as far as I know) are having huge frame dips.

What is really dumb is that when you hit take all to take back all the shite he was carrying, you take all equipped weapons and ammo as well. So you have to give each back and equip.
Unless there is something I am missing as well.

Is there some sort of confirmed list for which weapons each companion will use? I'll equip strong with a minigun and ammo, and he'll have it out but as soon as enemies are near he pulls out a sledgehammer that is not in his inventory...
