Copper is easy. Just make a hell of a lot of jet at the chem station...then sell them and buy anything with copper in it and drop it and break it down in build mode.

I think I am going to give this whole settlements thing a try. I'm level 40 now and my guy is pretty much a god in combat.
I guess I'll try to make the castle a real fortress with tons of turrets and make myself a throne room to store all my stuff.

My settlements don't get attacked very often, and when they do, it's just a couple people that I kill very quickly. Is it because of my level? I'm only 28.

quote:Yes. Not sure if that is the only factor, but I get hit by some pretty heavy attacks at level 70+.

Attacks seem to happen in groups of 3. I'll get 3 pretty close together, then I will go a long time without attacks, then 3 more. Might be coincidence, but it has been happening this way for a long time.

Okay thanks. How did you get such a high level? Just grind settlement quests?
Posted on 12/14/15 at 11:15 am to toosleaux
Leveling really doesn't seem that hard, especially with the Idiot Savant perk.
I'm 62 and several times I've just play a lot of missions and killed a lot of creatures, go to the pip-boy and realize I've gained 2 or 3 levels without realizing it.
I'm barely through any of the main quests. Lots of side quests though. Trying to max out my affinity with companions to get their perks.
So far I've maxed out:
Cogsworth
Strong
Piper
Cait
Preston
McReady
Working on Deacon now

I pick up just about everything so that means I have plenty to cook and make chems. Lots of XP.
Toss in settlement building and questing.
I would do 2 settlement quests, pick up all I could carry, then build a bit. Then a few more settlement missions. Rinse repeat.
I think I'm 77 and I just finally visited the institute.
I tend to do mostly settlement quests / building / defense during the week, then move the plot along a bit on weekends. Also do some random wandering.
My only beef is that I tend to get the same spots over and over. Then out of the blue, I got an area I had never been to a few days ago.
They need to spread out the raider / ghoul locations a little better for radiant quests.

Settlement crap is starting to seriously piss me off.
Once again, I should note that I now check before I fast travel and after I fast travel to see if a settlement is under attack.
I've had 3 villages crushed without any warning or notice.
Now something worse.
I fast travel to my biggest settlement 27 folks and once again no notice of an attack. I port in and the plants are dead and the defenses wrecked. So I repair ALL of the stupid defenses. Then I start replanting the fracking crops.
Then I notice, while I am in the same fracking settlement, the defense that I just rebuilt from 0 to 220.....goes back down to 100. No attack. shite just hops back to being broken.

Synths brah
Destroying from the inside

Not while I was in the actual settlement.
And once a synth starts shite, he get kilt.
Defenses blowing up on their own with no attack is going to be way to time consuming and expensive.
I did enjoy a Ghoul attack on Hangman's Alley. The Turrets did their job there. nothing but body parts all over the place.

So i found out that when you manually break down junk in a settlement, it increases the amount of space you have to build.
My settlement had reached its cap of how much i could build and then i broke down a ton of junk sitting in the workbench and when i was done there was like 1/4th of the bar remaining when it was completely full before.

Size limit really pisses me off. I'm looking right at you Jamaica Plains.

Any perks y'all suggest?
I've maxed out:
Rifleman
Armored
Gunsmith
All the VATS stuff
Locksmith
Some hacker
Scrapper
Idiot savant
What next? 1 more level of Int and then Chemist?

You guys must really get into building shite. I give them the necessities, some stores and scavenging, and leave them be. Never came close to running out of space.

So I made Mama Murphy quit chems... I don't think she's taking it too well

Na. Jamaica Plains, almost immediately jumps to yellow. I've only added turrets and a little addition to the existing half destroyed building and it is maxed out.
The only other site that I have in the yellow almost maxed is The Castle and all I did there was I made a walkway up on the walls all around the Castle and dropped in a large bunkhouse.

I've filled up and reset the size bar on Red Rocket like 3 times. It's annoying.
