Iron Banner is supposed to come back tomorrow. I wonder if the gear will now be light 36 or still light 30.

That'll be interesting to see about how they make iron banner this time around. I'm definitely interested in some new weapons. Going to farm some glimmer today, because farming is fun!
I also don't like that the only boss that drops weapons in CE is Crota. I mean the weapons are legit AF and you do get a lot of loot from him (I think I got 5 items yesterday including shader and emblem), but I liked how in VoG you could get decent weapons from fights besides Atheon.

My group got him last night after about 2hrs. (30min of Glimmer farming in middle to buy more heavy ammo/special synths)
We did a hybrid of the strats suggested here. We went left and stayed left until Orgres, we went to middle for Ogres and got a bubble with Weapons of light.
Once we downed them , we cam out and went opposite side of Croata (usually right) When Croata would come at us right, we went around back through starting area to rotate left. The key for us was killing the sword bearer when Croata was either at center or rotating back to center. And then we hammered his arse to drop shields. While Sword bearer DPSed, we releaoded heavies/Snipers and dropped shields again. So we were getting two cycles of dps on him PER sword spawn. We never saw the enrage warning on the time that we killed him, and we never had to do an oversoul kill on the one successful attempt.
Def want to have a 31 Chalice/Sword carrier
We had a hunter from our group do it. Had invis so he could hide safely while we dropped shields.

Watching a few videos the main problem seems to be that our sword holder was not doing nearly the damage these guys are. He must have been using the wrong combos or something. Because they are doing about 1/5th damage every time.

does the sword bearer do more damage if he has the chalice too?

yeah, the video showed the guy using 4 or 5 R1 strikes each time.

Doubtful but it seems like the smart thing to do if everyone stays in the middle, that way he can heal.

If the regulars want to run Crota tonight I am in (I know the Saints play) Should be easier now that we are all 31.

1/5 health every time and take him down 2 times for each sword, sounds like the way to go.
have him doead within 3 sword bearers. 4 at the most if you frick up some.

Our guy had it on everytime, no exceptions. People healed when he returned to group to wait for Sword Bearer to spawn or while in cubbie for orgre kills.
Main think is timing. We had a dude calling out Croate Shield level and yelling..Go GO. We had one guy with the IB doing Boomer nights only. The rest of us were dpsing swordbearer when he spawned. and crowd control to make sure we didn't get overrun by thralls.
Also, if someone can drops a crap ton of supers for your sword carrier to run in charged with a super, it takes a lot of dmg off of crota.

Yea I saw that too. This seems like the most efficient strategy. While staying in the middle seems the safest but you may hit enrage,
